I decided to do a little research on one of the standard A Team directors, Michael O'Herlihy. I got this information below from the IMDB website.
His brother was an Oscar-nominated actor, Dan O'Herlihy, who was nominated for Best Actor for 1954's THE ADVENTURES OF ROBINSON CRUSOE.
Michael died June 16, 1997 in Dublin, Ireland. He was nominated for an Emmy for 1979's NBC miniseries "Backstairs at the White House."
The quote below may be referring more specifically to Michael directing for shows such as STAR TREK, but I think the philosophy of directing that it demonstrates comes through also on his A Team episodes:
"I can only speak as a director and a storyteller. You have the story to tell and you must tell it with as much honesty as you possibly can, that this in fact did happen. You can't say, 'This only happened because we're making science fiction.' This is the story, fellows, so it has to be told to the best of our abilities. That has always been my attitude on every show I've done. Once you begin to edit the veracity of the reality or unreality, you're wrong. Then, you're turning into a preacher instead of a director. I've always tried to do my best from that point-of-view."
So there you have it....just a few tidbits about one of my personal favorite directors!

Good detective work, Amyk. Should I change your ranking to "Amy Allen?" ;D Which episode that he directs is your favorite?

He also directed BOUNTY! If he is the one who suggested that look between Hannibal and Face that I love so much, I would say the guy was brilliant!

Woo Hoo! Another wonderful O'Herlihey directing job is WHERE IS THE MONSTER WHEN YOU NEED HIM?

O'Herlihy also directed THE BEND IN THE RIVER, but I don't think that is one of his best.....in fact, it may be my least favorite of all the episodes he directs. But I don't know that the directing of it is necessarily bad....I just feel it kind of drags out and seems somewhat convoluted but not in a fun, edge-of-your-seat kind of way. Not sure if having a different director would have brought a different feel to it or not. (Maybe they should have filmed it from Murdock's point of view, like how he was filming CLOSED FOR REMODELING.....might have been an interesting thing for a change....or to have parts of it filmed as if from his point of view.)

And of course, there were several O'Herlihy references, usually when Face was playing a priest. He's probably the best director they had. ;D

I wonder if he was the cast's favorite director.

I don't know. But Rod Holcomb probably did some of the greatest work as director.

Maybe you should enlighten us about Rod Holcomb....you could post about him over on the crew member of the week thread. Why do you say he did some of the greatest directing work?

In general, he was a great director. He did the pilots for both GAH and the A-TEAM. ;D
