Reached this ep on my total rewatch today. I have no memory of it at all - it was one of the eps they skipped over on the recent TV repeats - so it was like watching a new episode for me. It's a very enjoyable episode. It was interesting to see the team mess things up at the start by confusing Hannibal with the other man in the alley. They don't often get things that badly wrong. It really felt like Hannibal was in real danger - although of course we knew nothing would happen to him. It was typical of Hannibal to cover his fear (and I think he was probably quite scared by his predicament) by deliberately irritating the baddies, even when he was being forced to dig his own grave! Murdock is definitely the hero of this ep, of course. It was interesting to see how he switched so easily between his preacher persona and the real Murdock - usually when he's adopted a persona he stays in character throughout. I loved how he had all the homeless people to write down their military experience so he could organise the most effective rescue party - he showed he has real leadership qualities.

Yes, this is one of my favorite episodes, and especially of the latter seasons. I just find it so sweet that the team really did help the homeless people. I like that they treated them with dignity and utilized their military experience, too.
I doubt I could come up with clever comments like Hannibal did if I was being asked to dig my own grave...
