I watched this one this evening. I give it a 9 on the Sidney scale. One thing that keeps it from being a 10 is that I find the car chases and the auto racing a bit boring and actually sort of sped up the DVD through some of that. But I think Giancarlo is so funny. And I like the little backstory of Hannibal and Jack and how they were both in love with Kid Harmon's mom. I also like how they get the bad guys to blow up Kyle Ludwig's best car instead of "the Kid's" car.

It's sad that this is how Decker and Crane go out though. I would have preferred a more memorable departure.

Oh, is this their last episode (other than Decker appearing in the court martial trilogy)? Yes, that is kind of sad. But probably it was not known that this was going to be their last episode when it was written. I would have liked a final episode for the two of them together which featured them more and revolved a bit more around them.

I love this episode as we get a lot of backstory on Hannibal The team attending both Kid Harmon’s scout jamboree and wedding. The long standing fight between Jack and Hannibal and the fact he’s uncle John and the fact the MPs bother the friends of the team. It’s just full of fodder for fanfic to fill in the gaps

Since Fulbright comes in almost immediately, I figured the writers had just decided to axe them like they did Lynch.

The long standing fight between Jack and Hannibal and the fact he’s uncle John and the fact the MPs bother the friends of the team. It’s just full of fodder for fanfic to fill in the gaps I think some people believe that Jack and Hannibal are actually brothers, but my understanding is that "Uncle John" is just what "the Kid" grew up calling Hannibal. It seems to me that although Hannibal and Jack were rivals for Jack's wife, they remained friends or at least Hannibal remained friends with Jack's wife. I think that maybe things were okay when she was still alive, but once she died and Jack took up drinking, then I think this is when Jack turned bitter towards Hannibal. I wonder what Jack's wife died from. Did Jack somehow think Hannibal was partially to blame? Or did he just need someone to take out his anger on, and choose Hannibal for that? Yeah, lots of fodder for the fanfics there! And does it drive anyone else crazy that "Kid" Harmon doesn't seem to have a real first name? Do you think even his wife calls him "Kid"?? Is that actually his real first name?!

I have Jacks wife dying of cancer and she sees Hannibal one last time and asks him to look after her boys. He’s pretended to the team to be on a filming job but goes to visit her to say goodbye. Then he takes Kid Harmon to the Scout Jamboree they mention in the show. Dropping Kid home he gets in to a full argument with Jack who is drunk.

Good thoughts, Amy.
I figured they stayed friends because that is what she wanted. And so Hannibal became Uncle John.
As for Kid, I could see that being his name.

I loved the backstory for Hannibal we get in this one. I think of Kid's mother as being the only woman he ever really loved and he gave her up for Jack. That's why he's never married, because he never found a woman who compared to her. I love the idea that Hannibal has kept an eye on the family through the years, even when he has his own problems to deal with and they're close enough for Kid to call him Uncle. They could have shown more of the long term effects of alcholism (and grief) on Jack because he seemed to turn his life around too easily, but then I suppose this isn't that type of show.

Does anyone know if there are fanfictions out there that take place back in the time when both Hannibal and Jack were in love with Kid's mother?

Rewatched this one today. I watched it quite recently anyway and it's just as good on a second viewing. Murdock's Italian accent makes me laugh so much! As does the way he kisses the girl when they're in the pool. And I love that he has to save the team from Decker again - that scene when the MPs are trying to push the cow out of the way is so funny. One thing I noticed, and it's a silly thing really, but I love that Face has actually styled his hair differently to play his character - usually he has exactly the same hairstyle when he's running a scam, with maybe only the addition of glasses or a moustache to try to disguise his appearance. One of the things that interests me about Hannibal's revelation is that he says Kid's mother chooses to marry Jack over him because Jack was "family orientated, secure in his job and always there for her" - so I assume that Hannibal joined the army after this because he couldn't hold down a steady job. I wonder if he kept getting himself fired from a series of odd jobs? I can't imagine a young Hannibal being able to keep his mouth shut if he was working for someone who wasn't the greatest boss in the world!

I feel good to know that Jack, apart from the alcoholism, was apparently a very stable and loving guy. And hopefully after this episode, he will once again be like that again, especially for his grandchild.

I just figured that Hannibal always knew that he would join the Army, but maybe it was kind of a last resort...maybe similar to Face?
And I watched the HIGHWAY TO HEAVEN episode that had Kid Harmon in it last night where he loses his legs in an accident.

Oh, I love that episode. I remember it from when it was originally on! If I am remembering correctly, the not-so-popular girl and "Kid" end up together? And he becomes like some kind of gymnast, maybe using prosthetic legs?
