I watched "fire"(03x04) from season 3 today and I knew I saw Paul Gleason in another episode (it was "The Trouble With Harry")(04x21)
I find it strange because he is a completely different person in 04x21 (Harry) compared to (Roy Kelsey) in 03x04.(even if he is the same person he probably would be still in prison)
Was he the only actor who "played" completely different roles or not?I think there are several guest stars who did that. I find it strange that they did that....what are y'all are saying?

No. Jack Ging was a bad guy twice, once in A SMALL AND DEADLY WAR and a second time in BAD TIME ON THE BORDER. He would later become recurring guest star General Fulbright.
I can't think of the actor's name, but the guy who played the head rancher in RANGE RIDER was also in SHOWDOWN as the client if I recollect correctly.
There are others, but those are some of the easiest aside from Paul Gleason.

Oh and how could I forget the brief appearance of Tawnia as a bikini-clad woman in BAD TIME ON THE BORDER before she became Tawnia Baker?

Yes, and isn't the client in THERE'S ALWAYS A CATCH also in another episode. Is she the prostitute in the Las Vegas episode?
Also, isn't the woman from CRYSTAL LAKE the same one who plays the South African woman with the diamond mine?

I don't mind it when the same actors play different characters on the same series. If they are good actors, they can pull it off. I also like to think that perhaps those who showed up on time, knew their lines, and performed well were offered more parts in the future. Maybe they didn't even have to audition again for the new part, if SJC or the "powers that be" felt they could be relied upon to perform well? Anyway, I like to think so.

And it would not surprise me if someone did so well that sometimes parts are written specifically for them.

I've also recognized a couple actors who were regulars on M*A*S*H-- in that case, because maybe Asian actors were hard to come by and thus they kept getting recycled...

It would have been more interesting to see Michael Baseleon playing a completely different kind of character from Crazy Tommy T.

I loved him as Crazy Tommy T, but I did not like him as well as the mobster in DOUBLE HEAT. I think it would have been interesting to see him portray one of the "good guys," like maybe a client who needed to hire the team. Or maybe a priest?

Just watched TROUBLE ON WHEELS. The guy who plays "Hoyt" (the chief thug at the auto plant) also plays "Tiny" in CHOPPING SPREE - at least I believe it is the same actor.

Thats funny...I also watched TROUBLE ON WHEELS a couple minutes ago! And I wanted to write the same in this thread here because I saw him somewhere also. I did a little research...wow according to my TV series database he was in 3!(4) episodes! 1. When You Coming Back, Range Rider?, Part I+II as Stryker 2. Trouble on Wheels as Hoyt Plummer 3. Without Reservations as Lou Canter

Oh wow.....somehow I did not realize or else forgot that he was Stryker in my very most favorite episode! And I also didn't realize he is in WITHOUT RESERVATIONS. But then does this mean that he isn't the guy I thought he was in TROUBLE ON WHEELS? Is that a different actor? I'm going to go look up who played Hoyt....'
Okay, Hoyt is played by Mills Watson, as per IMDB. And he also played Stryker and Lou Canter. But Nicholas Shields played Tiny in CHOPPING SPREE. So I was wrong about this being the same actor and yet right that he was in more than one episode as a different character.
