Hmmm; interesting way to look at it. I've been doing a TAT-as-archetypes study on my own for a while. So Hannibal would have, of course, B.A.'s no-nonsense tough guy side, Face's suave manner and charm, and Murdock's good kind of crazy? Yeah, that fits.

I do remember you, Aquamaniac, commenting about the Freddy Krueger connection - maybe you influenced me to think that way, but I think it is true that his laugh is not so much of a fun laugh but more of a sinister one. And the way he even says "I love it when a plan comes together!" seems more like some evil plan has come together to me than the way GP's Hannibal says it. Maybe Liam Neeson was confused and thought he was playing Hannibal Lecter!!!

I was quite excited seeing the trailer. It looked better than I expected it to look, which might say more about how terribly, terribly bad I expected it to be.
Either way, if it sucks I think more fans will just go back to the show they've always loved and if it does well, it might lead to more stuff around the original show. It'll never have the shows feel to it because it was unique. It was the people and their chemistry that made it, not the tight script and amazing special effects.

Couldn't have said it better, Therm! It's such a blue-collar show; at least, it was in the beginning. When they got to seasons 4 and 5, I guess they thought they had to "punch it up" with more famous guest stars, more exotic locations, more elaborate set pieces, etc. I actually liked it better when it focused more on the characters' quirks, bouncing off one another, helping the little guys, and staying close to home in SoCal. But that's just me. There are exceptions, of course (WHERE IS THE MONSTER...is one) but most of my favs are the earlier ones. ;D

No argument from me there, miz, although I didn't mind when they went to other countries, as long as they were still helping the "little guy". For example, I like them helping the nuns in THE ONLY CHURCH IN TOWN and I of course love them helping the pilot in IN PLANE SIGHT. In both of those they traveled outside of the U.S., but it wasn't to pull of some big international government thing.
I do think the earlier shows did such a good job just showing the team what they did best. As Hannibal mentions in THE GREY TEAM, what they are really qualified for is chasing thugs in the park, mobsters, etc. I think they are more qualified for that than for international espionage and working for the CIA. (I never did really know if Stockwell was CIA, but it seemed that he was maybe supposed to be?)
