Rewatched this one today. I love how the team just stumble onto the trouble and decide to help, even though Decker is so close to catching them.
Face has some great lines in this, I particularly love how he addresses the union meeting with such enthusiasm.
I'm starting to notice that Amy is having less and less to do in this season. She didn't do much in the previous ep either - TAXICAB WARS - and she does even less in this one. The scene where they're stealing the food from the party she just kind of stands around waving a gun and she looks really awkward and out of place. It's a shame because rewatching S1 I thought they did really well to involve her fully in the plots and the action in a meaningful way, but there's a definite shift now. I can see why Melinda became unhappy with the role.

I'm not sure I ever really noticed those things about Amy. Wait till you get to her final episode. I don't think she gets on any of the action there and is literally just there to be a cute and pretty sidekick to Face (in a persona).

Just finished this one. I do so love the van jumping scenes, especially over the Topeko Pass. But when they steal the food from the barbecue, they just sort of set it in the back of the van....wouldn't it be sliding all over the place, considering the way that BA peels out of there??

Maybe they stacked it back in there as tight as possible so noting would move.(good question though)
For me the most surprising part in this episode was that Mr. Jarrett actually gave them the money they "asked" for at the dinner party.

Yeh I've always wondered the same thinking surely even if the plates of food were tightly packed with that sort of driving the food would be all over the place and exactly how deep is that rear bench seat to have all those large plates of food on 🤔

I don't like the ouji board thing either. Me, too. Murdock hasn't the first clue how to use one. This is the one where the van jumps through the billboard/over the missing bridge, right? I don't remember much else, but do love that part, and of course how Hannibal taunts Decker from the other side. I also love the cabbage cannons. Yeah... I had a note for myself about how often B.A. must have to change his shocks, with all the jumping they do with that thing. Also, I noted that they have to have rigged up some sort of seatbelt for Amy, or she'd go ricocheting through the van whenever they jumped it or cornered it hard... I can't imagine BA agreeing to share a double with Murdock.... Actually, I can't imagine anyone wanting to share a bed with Murdock cause he would be too annoying and encroach on personal space and wake them up too early like in TIMBER. I'm not sure I'd automatically assume Murdock's an annoying sleeper, except we do know he snores (can't remember which episode). As far as waking them up early... that episode could've been a one-off thing, but if it's not, since they're all in the same room, he'd wake them up anyway... I could see Face sharing with Murdock, though. Frankly, I'm thinking B.A. is the one no one would want to sleep with. I could see him hogging the bed and then getting super ornery when you want him to move, and being terrible in the morning. I only just realised that they arrange the clips in a particular way, so it will have a character saying something, then switch to another (unrelated) clip except it's as if it's continuing on and answering the previous clip in a funny way. (I didn't explain that very well but hope that made sense!). So I've just missed like 3 seasons worth of them doing that! I *never* noticed that! I did, too. She wasn't a useless female. She actually did stuff, she wasn't just a pretty face (and MC is pretty, but she's not bombshell pretty like many female characters, and wasn't "sold" as pretty unless she was playing a part, unlike Tawnia), and even though she wasn't supposed to be the "pretty girl" and was useful, she also wasn't treated like the ugly girl. And didn't have to be anyone's love interest or even have it hinted at. I wonder which came first... her being unhappy, or did they start to phase Amy out because she was unhappy and they didn't like that/were thinking to get rid of her? I guess I assumed the latter. (And I don't know exactly the circumstances of her leaving. Did they just say one day, "don't show up anymore" (which could make sense for why they have to explain her absence after the fact), or did she have a contract she had to finish out and it was all awkwardness until then (which would explain her being phased out over several episodes)?
I'm not sure I ever really noticed those things about Amy. Wait till you get to her final episode. I don't think she gets on any of the action there and is literally just there to be a cute and pretty sidekick to Face (in a persona). Sadly, I can't even remember which episode that is... I noticed that, too. Yet another piece of evidence that on this show, anything can work-- even against logic-- if you want/need it to! LOL (Now I'm imagining if it was real life, and what B.A. would do when he opened up the back and saw food everywhere in his van...)

Not sure if this is correct, but I feel like I read or heard that one day she was given a script and didn't even have any lines in it. Does anyone else on this forum recall this or did I just make that up?
Her last episode is THE WHITE BALLOT. But she does have lines in that - quite a few in fact.

She wasn't in STEEL, so maybe that was it.

That could be...I think she is still shown in the opening credits for STEEL, isn't she?

That could be...I think she is still shown in the opening credits for STEEL, isn't she? I don't recall ever seeing Amy in the opening credits for Steel, but i haven't seen the credits for years because the dvd releases in the UK didn't include any start credits so you could be right i suppose? I think Amy got given a few more lines in The White Ballot more than most of the episodes she featured in during season 2. Really wish Melinda would give us a interview on those last moments on the series and why/how etc, do you think she will ever speak out about this subject or do you think after 40 years the pain is still there to talk about it because the experience must've left her very bitter for probably years afterwards?

I don't know. It would be interesting to hear her perspective from both when it was fresh and then now, all these years later. I hope she was able to let go of any bitterness (if she had any) and just move on from the whole thing, but I do wish she would be involved in looking back now on her part on the show. I would love to know about her experience with the show - not only the bad, but also whatever good experiences she had working on it.

Me too. But I wonder if she was given some kind of gag order. Or it may be that she just decided to take the high road and not say anything bad about the experience. Did she ever do any interviews? And if not, I wonder if that was because of lack of interest, or because she was asked and declined.
I have to say, I've heard some things that all of the guys were pretty mean to her by the end (not just GP), and that kind of... makes me feel a certain kind of way about them. I would like to think it's not true, but I don't know. I would be interested to know what kind of conflicts there were... certainly they wouldn't have gotten nasty to her if there wasn't some deeper conflict besides just "they didn't agree on what role she should take/they didn't want a 'girl' on the show"? Like, I wonder if she fanned the flames, or if there were other issues as well, or something?

That could be...I think she is still shown in the opening credits for STEEL, isn't she? I believe so. Credits normally weren't changed unless a major change had happened or at the mid-season break or start of a season.
