You don't think it would get too preachy?

I don't think so - I would not think he should do those talks every week, but I would like to see them a couple of times a season at least.

I still think that would be too much. Maybe frequent talks, but shorter, less preachy content. I like when he was talking to the one girl about his dad. That didn't seem too forced. Less inspirational, more 'REAL'.

I liked the way Hannibal communicated with the team and would not have minded more of that, although it would get old I suppose if they did it too much. But we rarely seemed to see how Hannibal actually gathered the team up when it was time for a mission. Did he just phone them? How did he know where to even phone them, especially as it seemed Face moved around all the time? An idea for another thread! It begs the question of how much they keep in touch with each other between jobs. Do they hang out together? (This part almost seems to imply they don't, that they're not in contact very much.) Do the other guys go to the hospital to visit Murdock? (And, how about Amy? Her I sort of assumed they only call when there's a job they need her for.) I assume Face at least keeps them informed wherever he's at (except, apparently, Amy...).
BA's talk to the children has always actually annoyed me a little. Probably because I didn't see the pilot until after most of the other episodes. It was different. I was much more used to BA not saying much. It was a bit dorky, but "background laying" bits of books and movies usually are. But I like that it establishes from the beginning that B.A. knows a bit about history and such-- he's not just dumb muscle.

I think the pilot is pretty solid overall. It's hard to justify any changes outside of the Tim Dunigan character. Had Dirk been in the pilot, I could have seen his parts juiced up more. I always felt like he was the least developed in the pilot.
I do enjoy B.A. talking to the kids. I agree with Amy that a couple of times a season or so would have been great.
As for the code, doing it a few times across the five seasons would have been fine. Because in the pilot, B.A. knew immediately what it meant. I didn't like Face having to look it up.
