I do like this episode, but it's not one of my favourites. Although I think the B.A/Murdock stuff is really good, how Murdock's idolising B.A & the look on Face and Hannibal's face when he started defending him. But you just knew it wasn't gonna last! I can't say I particularly have a problem with the guys going after the girls this. At the end of the day they're all adults and can all do what they want with who they want. I guess they all got something out of it, the guy's got the girls and the girls got to hang out with some good, decent guys. So I think it was win win for all really.

By the way, is the guy, Zeke sat in the back of the car with Hannibal, the same guy in Labor Pains, who takes Face's shoes after Face wanting to take his truck? My dad was watch this episode this morning & I only just thought about it.

Oh, I never thought that was the same guy before, but I'm not 100% sure.

I rewatched this episode today. Another one I don't remember anything about and definitely not one of the better eps, although it does have some great moments of course. I can see you've already had quite a discussion about how the female characters are treated so I won't go into it too much, but I think it was really sloppy writing. I assumed the ep must have been written by someone who hadn't written for the show before and misunderstood the characters, but I Googled it and it was written by SJC! I don't know what he was thinking? The whole team were acting out of character and it was weird, especially BA who would never behave in that way around a woman no matter how much he liked her. We've seen how he usually gets terribly embarrassed if a woman even looks at him with any hint of 'liking' him, so to have him 'barely able to control himself' (or whatever) was complete nonsense. I won't go into Face, Hannibal or Murdock's bizarre, OOC behaviour because I think you've covered most of it already. And since when has there been a rule about not fraternising with clients anyway? Face does it all the time! Sometimes they've barely even agreed to take on a job and he's flirting with 'the girl' so that whole plot was just silly in the first place.
I do like the way Hannibal seems to instinctively know Billy is in some kind of trouble at the start of the ep and so the team kind of stumble across the situation and get involved. I also like the way Hannibal taunts Westerland, he is so good at those put downs, but what was the blue paint about exactly?
It was fun to see Murdock hero worshipping BA ("Ba" ), but I don't really understood what happened at the end to change his mind? I'm not sure if it was something to do with the (American) football game they were playing because I don't get any of those references! Why did Murdock run on and ruin the game?

I think Murdock got so caught up in his Knute Rockne moment that he sort of forgot all about reality and just felt he had to get out there and "win one for the Gipper!"

Well, I was going to have to wade into this episode sooner or later... I know, I know... amyk, you always say the girls are always eager participants in the show. But these girls are young, the team rescued them and they were vulnerable. I don't think immediately after the job is done opens the girls up for playing with.
Well, I don't think either the guys or the girls should just be playing with one another. I'm not so sure the girls are so naive and innocent. If they are big stars, they hold power over others and probably have numerous male fans that they could be taking advantage of. In addition, coming to the door wearing only a towel after just stepping out of the shower seemed rather unnecessary. (This does not mean the men are also not responsible to restrain themselves, but I'm just saying that to me, in this episode, the "coming on" to each other seemed to go both ways.) However, you do have a point that perhaps the girls feel so grateful to the team and are now idolizing the team. I have to say, I agree with both of these points. I think these women are plenty old enough to decide who they want, and I don't see them as naive. But, there is also the truth that these guys are much older and just rescued them, which creates a power imbalance and also a possible hero-worship thing. In any case, I do think that it would probably be a good "rule" for the team to not "mess around" with clients before, during, or in the immediate aftermath of a case. Until they actually clear their names and are able to settle down somewhere and be serious about a committed relationship, then I think they just need to live celibate lives, although I don't know that any of them other than B.A. would necessarily be able to do that. I don't think they have to be celibate just because they can't or don't want to be in serious and/or committed relationships right now. It's just that, again, this is probably not the right situation for them to be having fun... She answered the door in a towel? She must be asking for it then! She must be a real 'loose' woman. (Women can wear whatever, and they are not necessarily asking to be hit on by men.) I knew you would argue that they weren't naive and innocent. You always do. It has nothing to do with being "loose" or "asking for it." But I can't imagine answering the door in a towel... it would be highly inappropriate, and highly awkward, no matter who was on the other side of the door. Yes, the one answered the door in the towel, but I never found their behaviour or dress particularly provocative. The towel was she was honestly interrupted while she was in the shower. I had to once chase my kitten in a towel. He got out and I was so scared that he'd be hurt or lost, that I honest to goodness had to chase him outside and I was only wearing a towel. Does that mean I'm being provocative to any man that happened to be there? But this wasn't any sort of emergency situation. There were three other people there to answer the door. Or she could've yelled, "Just a minute!" and gone and put something on. Oh my gosh. I'm sorry. I love our guys. I love them so much. But why would those beautiful young girls be interested in these three? I'm laughing so hard, I started to cry. View AttachmentAgain, could be the hero-worship thing. Face is supposed to be this super-hot dude (I don't see it-- DB is okay, but he/Face have never struck me as being as charismatic or attractive as Face is supposed to be). And you all know I have this fangirl crush on Murdock, but... the "that Murdock is hot! Really hot!" part. I was like, "... our Murdock??" OMG, LOL. At this point, the girls have done nothing more than introduce themselves. NOTHING MORE. The men have to talk about controlling themselves here. I'm inferring that they believe they *can* mess around with these women, and they are making themselves control themselves. The women have no choice in the matter. I never got that impression. I saw plenty of interest from them. I just don't believe that these women are dumb naive bunnies. Women can absolutely be interested in men, can pursue men, can flirt with men, etc. Without that meaning they're "easy" or being taken advantage of. Women are intelligent. Women are sexual. Both of those things are okay. We don't have to decide either they're poor innocent vestal virgins, or they're big s-l-u-t-s. Maybe they're simply women who are interested in men.
She has told him she's grateful. Her tone of voice wasn't leading, but then she does this: View AttachmentBut it's still not manipulative or hot around the collar or anything. She doesn't 'want' anything by doing this. If he thinks this is an invitation for anything. He is wrong. However, it looks like Charlotte is enjoying this. It looks like Charlotte is laughing at Face having a hard time controlling himself. It may not be an invitation, but again, it's inappropriate and awkward. Even fully-clothed, even if they're not at all attracted to you, even if they knew you well, most people will be uncomfortable if you invade their space to this extent. So unless she is incredibly socially-awkward/clueless and has no idea this is not the way to behave around people, then yeah, there's something deliberate going on here. And frankly, it's sort of rude, whether her intent is to flirt or just to make someone uncomfortable. View AttachmentThis is the girl with scared eyes again. She is holding onto him again. I wonder if it's because she's coming on to him or if she's scared and looking for reassurance. I don't think there's anyway to be 100%. Charlotte: With all the flakes we meet, it's really nice to finally meet some real MEN. (Girl with scared eyes joins in for the last word.) Girl with long hair: I like Faceman. I think he's so cute. Charlotte: BA. He's so strong and silent. Girl with scared eyes: Mmmm... Hannibal. He holds them all together, girls. Jenny: And Murdock. He's hot. I mean, really HOT (Long Hair girl joins in on the last word.) Charlotte: I get the feeling that all of these guys are really interested, but Hannibal won't let them come on to us. I mean, what are we? Chopped liver? This is after the job is done and everything is supposedly safe. Hannibal: Now the case is over, and I wanna go date those girls! Whaddya say, Captain? Murdock: <<dismisses it, preoccupied with the Gipper>> Hannibal: PLEASE, MURDOCK! Well, I've seen enough of this game and *I'M* gonna win one for the gipper.I personally think Hannibal is gross there. Even with the little talk the girls had at the end where they're unhappy the guys haven't tried anything, I still don't believe they were coming onto the guys during the episode. Certainly in no way to cause the guys to be defenseless against them. The most I saw was them in their bathing suits for a scene where they just came in from the pool, a couple of times where they put an arm on one of them, and the way Charlotte asked BA if she could help him with anything. Otherwise I maintain they were completely innocent and were not causing the poor men to battle with their self-control. They were not asking for anything. I have literally analyzed and documented every moment between the team and these girls. I think it's unfortunate that public opinion is these girls wanted them and deserved to be treated like sexual objects. (I remember these conversations from other forums.) To me that just proves that people feel women are sexual objects and have to dress and behave a certain way so that men can live their lives without losing control. Heaven forbid she answers the door with a towel on. That is definitely inviting the advances. Oh, they were wearing swimsuits at a swimmimg pool. It's all just so sad. And it really can answer a lot of questions for me about how someone as misogynistic as Trump can become president of the USA and have people ignore horrible things he says and does to and about women, and even defend him. The world sucks. Again: it's okay for women to be sexual. Women are capable of being sexual, all on their own. It doesn't mean they're being taken advantage of. It doesn't mean they're "easy." It just means they have a sex drive, like most people, and they're not ashamed of it. Being attracted to someone doesn't necessarily mean treating them like an object simply by virtue of being attracted to them. Hell, I'll say it: I have a sex drive. I've been attracted to men. I've flirted with men. I've even had sex with men (and I assume that many of you, of both genders, who have also been in relationships are also not virgins). I can assure you that I'm neither taken advantage of nor easy/a s-l-u-t, thank you very much.
Is the guys' behavior ridiculous? Yes, of course. The whole "attracted to the clients" thing is way overdone, so as to almost be a caricature. (This is another one of those episodes that feels like it was written by one of the producers' pre-teen sons or something.) But there's nothing wrong with it if the clients are attracted to them, or even flirty. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a woman being attracted to or flirting with a man.
I'm not saying there might not be people seeing it that way. However, I think overall most people do not see that being the case with the Bells or with the team for that matter. To me, there is nothing wrong with a mutual attraction being fulfilled on either side. Yes, precisely.

Ah, the never-ending analysis of this episode! I wonder what the writer of the episode would say if they were to know how much this has been analyzed! I have to go look up who wrote this one....IMDB indicates that SJC wrote it and Mark Jones was the story editor. Wonder how it may have been different if good old Babs Greyhosky had written it?!
