From my notes:
"I would never worry about Murdock, knowing that B.A. has his back."
I was just watching the preview - I do much prefer Murdock without the combover. Through much of the series, they try to hide his receding hairline by combing from the back over the top of his head. I don't like that.
I actually do think he looks nicer with his hair combed forward (and I don't think it looks overly fake like some combovers), but I don't worry about it too much. (Although to me it seems it's something they do only very rarely, and most of the time if we see him without a hat, they don't try to hide it.)
H.M.
Howard?
Henry?
Heathcliff?
Hugh?
Homer?
Well, I've said before what I think the deal is with his name...
Helicopter pilot from Westwood.
Where's Westwood?
Ooh, I missed that part. I've still been trying to figure out where he's from. Although, "Westwood" could just be something he made up, too. (Okay, so I looked it up... apparently it's a neighborhood in the LA area. Though, it's also a subdivision in TX-- which I keep looking into just because I saw one writer or fan site assume he was from Texas and I wasn't sure why-- if that's actually in the show somewhere, or if that's what his accent is, or what. So, pick whichever you like, though I assume he means the one in CA since saying just "Westwood" without a state would assume that the listener will either know {"I'm from Detroit/Minneapolis/Newark/Martha's Vineyard/Phoenix"} or that it's local...)
Hannibal got the cigars. BA got the car wax. He got Face a waterbed. Where will Face put that?
Good point. Face doesn't exactly stay put (plus, a lot of apartments ban waterbeds because they're so heavy and the structure won't take it... never mind damage from leaks). I love how perfectly apt that one was, though. (Oh, the 80s...)
Jenny Beth? Who is Jenny Beth? That's who he wants to take to Hawaii with him.
She's a dental hygienist. That answers my dentist question from another thread.
Yeah, I thought that was weird. He seems to barely know her, yet is going to take her on a fancy trip... but forgets her instantly once someone else comes along... (And I cannot imagine the awkwardness of that for her. Some dude you see twice a year at best {*if* your dental office is one that always schedules a patient with the same hygienist each time} and who you see at your job {so you can't avoid him, and also can't risk offending him}, wants to take you on a fancy trip {I mean, it's not costing him anything, so at least there's less of that element}... I would be uncomfortable with that one, between possible expectations and feeling beholden to someone who was an acquaintance at best, and... And awkwardness for both. Traveling with other people is not easy, and there's no way I'd do it with anyone I didn't know well and know that we could stand to be traveling together, with only each other, for two weeks... I've been lucky to never have bad experiences, but I've heard horror stories.)
Do you really think twins would want to share a guy?
Probably not, judging from twins I've known who'd rather be their own people... then again, I've heard tell of others who are definitely joined at the hip, so who knows. I assume the implication is supposed to be that Hannibal's just so swell that they're willing to do it. (insert eye roll here)
Spring of 72. Murdock worked for the CIA *AFTER* the escape from the military prison.
But he was never in prison with them, right?
Okay, so now I definitely need to post the thread I was going to about what exactly went on with Murdock and when he ended up in the V.A.
Then again, I'm confused about the timeline, period. I had to go back and check exactly when the war ended (well, when the U.S. pulled out). 1973. But I thought it was said that the guys robbed the bank two days after the war ended? But they got sent up to prison in 1972.
$400 in groceries, that must have been a lot back 40 years ago
and Face never has enough milk lol
Our B.A. is a growing boy, lol. (Really, though-- people into working out can eat a lot... depending on how hard he's hitting the gym, he'll need to eat enough to support all that activity.)
It's nice to see BA doing things without Face and Hannibal telling him what to do. He scammed Nurse Dodd, he did the telephone tap, he found the bad guys, he smashed through the window, shot up the place, and saved Face...
Yes. I love B.A. I wish we'd had more of him... but he seemed almost willing to take a backseat role (which sort of makes it extra-sad that GP was so annoyed by MT, because I'm not sure that MT was *trying* to be so popular?).
He couldn't find something sharp to cut the ropes? He had to start a fire? How would that burn through the ropes and not burn his skin?
Or he doesn't know how to position his hands so the ropes aren't as tight and he can hopefully slip them off? (Same as when he and Jody are tied up {*she* knows how, though}. In my notes: “I take it SERE school wasn't a thing back then...”) Then again, I guess if these guys are ex-mil or government, they might know about those tricks, too.
He's walking in the desert and is so hot, but still keeps his jacket on.
This has killed me SO MANY times. So many times there he is in a flannel shirt and jacket, or Face is in a sweater (or once even a sweater *and* a sport coat)... in L.A. (or sometimes in a hot country). Has to be brutal.
I love Jody Joy.
I really, really do.
She's just so pleasant and sincere.
See, I thought (as mentioned in the other thread on this episode) that she was shallow and only into Murdock because he was “famous,” so not sincere at all.
And she was modest when taking her tights off.
I would hope so, considering she'd have to take her shorts off to do it, and I'd certainly wonder about someone who was cool with parading in front of a stranger in their underwear... (Why was she wearing nylons with shorts, anyway? What, does she work at Hooters? I mean, I know colored tights with shorts was a thing in the 80s, but these are just regular sheer stockings...)
She was earnest when she said Morty liked to tie her up. I didn't like that Murdock says: I bet he did!
Oh, I didn't think this part was innocent at all... I think both of them knew exactly what they were implying. She can't really have been so naive as to think Morty thought it was all good clean fun.
With no Hannibal, I guess there was a chance that maybe someone else could have said it.
It would've been great if B.A. had! With that smirk of his.
He looks funny in the red truck.
Yeah, I wasn't into that truck and not sure why he was. Plus, what's he going to do with a car??
