It's actually a pretty long montage.

No 'on the jazz'. No ILIWAPCT. No Murdock flying. The Lawrence Family hired them but we don't know for how much.

Great entrance. I love the four of them walking into the place after BA cuts a hole in the wall. Very cool. Would have made a great poster and I would have so hung it up in my bedroom. Take a screenshot and print it? (You wouldn't be able to blow it up to poster size, unfortunately, but maybe at least could have a small one!) The silence from Murdock when Billy tells him to not give BA any problems is so awkward. Murdock didn't have anything to say. Do you think Murdock's not good with children? Hm. I always assumed that Billy saying that was supposed to be the punch line, so they left it with no response... if I see that part again, I'll have to see if I think Murdock just looks awkward rather than the silence being deliberate. Murdock and kids. Hm. Trying to think how I think he'd relate to kids. On one hand, you'd think kids would love him because he's fun and zany. But I guess that doesn't necessarily mean he's the kid-loving type himself. I'm not sure Murdock's the type of guy who'd want to have responsibility of a kid... (after all, he apparently doesn't even want the responsibility of taking care of himself...). Plus, maybe he wouldn't want the competition for "fun and zany" or wouldn't want to share his toys, lol. We know B.A. loves kids-- though of course that might not necessarily mean he'd ever want any of his own-- but I could easily see Hannibal and Face being staunchly anti-kid. Murdock, I'm not sure...
I know Hannibal is perfect, but wouldn't it be cool if he fell out one day when he was shooting out the door like that? I wonder if it ever happened in filming... though maybe they strap him in. No screen in that window? They must have terrible mosquito and fly problems. I think I thought that when I noticed that part, too. Not to mention other critters crawling in-- they are in the woods after all. do you think they are always stunt hands? Sometimes I wonder. I remember one episode where they showed Murdock's hands... or, allegedly Murdock's hands, or whatever... and I was like, "that can't really be him; those hands are quite hairless, and DS is a pretty fuzzy dude." But another time they showed someone's hands during a "building stuff" montage, and I remember being impressed they bothered to have the hands dirty as if they were really doing dirty work. Honestly, sometimes I wonder why they'd bother with "fake hands" if there isn't an actual stunt involved. It's not like some shows or movies where the actor might have hands that aren't that great and they need the hands to be attractive (like, a woman who's supposed to be attractive, maybe a romance type scene, whatever). And it's not like usually they're ever doing something really technical where they'd need an expert's hands (say, playing music or doing art or something). And these little hand shots surely aren't so long that they figure they don't want to pay the actual actors for a four-second hand shot. So why not quick cut to the actual actor's hands? (Then again, I don't really know how filming works in movies and TV shows, and I'm often surprised by continuity errors that suggest to me that filming a scene takes WAY longer than I think it does...)

Re the stunt hands: I suspect that they may film these scenes over and over in various angles and stuff. And sometimes you see more than just the hands, like up to the stunt doubles' neck. So I do think filming these scenes may take a lot of time. I think they probably can do these scenes easier just using doubles than having the actors hang around to film them. They could even film these scenes at the same time that the actors are filming other scenes, saving time for the overall production. They had a lot to get done in a short time with as many episodes per season as they made.

As much as I love Murdock, I could see him not wanting to share the limelight with a kid. Murdock may be a bit over the top for kids. I mean, they like to be very active and fun, but they generally are used to adults acting differently. So if they see an adult acting like a kid, I wonder if it may make them uncomfortable.

They had a lot to get done in a short time with as many episodes per season as they made. Talking with some of my friends that have worked on productions, they say this is commonplace. The actors are generally in make-up, learning lines, potentially shooting elsewhere, so it's easier to do things like this at any time. Especially if their face is not needed in the shot. Saves time and money generally. I have been noticing the same in MACGYVER lately. In one scene, the hands are building something and are super dirty, but when they flash to full MacGyver, his hands are clean.

Ah, that's true, too. I could see him getting very uncomfortable if he had to actually be responsible for kids, or possibly if he had to be around them too long or if they started whining or something.

I think it could have been funny if the four guys had to take care of an infant throughout an episode. Like THREE MEN AND A BABY but FOUR MEN AND A BABY.

I'm almost up to that episode of MACGYVER where he and Jack have to care for a baby. I wonder if it would have been as fun with our guys. I would bet B.A. (and probably Hannibal) know something about kids. I wouldn't put it past Face either.

Do you think they had older kids in the orphanage caring for younger ones? Actually, are there even "orphanages" in the US? Were there in the 1980s? Maybe something like "group homes?"
