How does BA *really* feel about Murdock?

Is he actually annoyed with him? Does he really think he's a fool? Does he really think he's crazy? Does he really believe if Murdock is flying, then they're dying? Is he just playing along because they're having fun?

The way I see it is B.A isn't a fool and he wouldn't go into gun battles and fighting the bad guys unless all of the team was up for it.
Captain Cap, billy the invisible dog, the sock dog etc...all probably annoy the hell out of him but deep down he cares a lot for him and would take a bullet for him.

I think if anyone, BA actually thought he was crazy. I think he liked him and maybe felt sorry for him, but got easily annoyed.

I was watching BEVERLY HILLS ASSAULT tonight, and BA was yelling at Murdock, telling him he can't paint and he snapped his paintbrush. He was mean a lot.

Throwing all the easels out of the van made sense... But he didn't have to yell at him, insult him, and break his brush. BA was a grump. Murdock got most of his abuse.

I think Murdock adores BA. Seriously. He sort of has a hero worship for him. I mean he admires and respects Hannibal, he acts like Face's brother, but he sort of always wants BA's attention and approval. I think BA likes Murdock, he just doesn't really like to tell him that. "Curtain Call", "Bounty" and "Breakout" prove it though. Also the court martial trilogy.

Plus you know Murdock loves riling him up. It's so easy to do and Murdock gets a kick out of it. Until he goes too far.

I think the paintbrush snapping scene is awful. I feel so sorry for Murdock. I also feel really bad for him when he's providing therapy for the nuts and BA grabs him and starts yelling at him. Mainly due to Murdock's face:







He just looks well scared. And that makes me think of bullying. He does it in "Taxicab wars" as well, gets right in Murdock's face. I'm not saying Murdock can't give as good as he gets because he obviously verbally can, I just don't like the whole invasion of space thing.

I think BA really cared for Murdock as seen in Curtain Call and Bounty. My take on the whole thing is...they have a typical big brother/little brother relationship. Murdock annoys BA on purpose - he probably gets a kick out of it. BA gets grumpy and yells at Murdock or in the case of Bevery Hills Assault, snaps his paintbrush. He does that to get Murdock to stop being crazy/silly. I think, to BA, Murdock is the pain in the ass little brother that annoys the hell out of you but you can't help but like anyway. That's my take on their friendship.

That's what I mean with the big brother/little brother thing. It's typical behavior. The hero worship, the call for attention and approval, the crazy stunts.

Hannibal is like a father figure to them. They were all so young when they were in Vietnam, barely out of their teens. And none of them really seem to have had a father figure growing up (Face sure didn't, BA's dad died when he was young, and Murdock...well we don't really know anything about his father. I guess his grandfather was a father figure but that's different I think.) so it makes sense that they would look up to him and he's protective of them, too.
I think Murdock tried to annoy Face too but it didn't work as well as with BA because Face would just play along with whatever crazy thing Murdock came up with....and that usually resulted in irritating BA. Kind of a win/win for them LOL.

Looks like they were shooting the photo used on the DVD covers when they took those. I would enjoy one of those on the DVD cover more than the photo they used!

I think B.A. really loved Murdock. I think sometimes his annoyance is real, but I think maybe sometimes he goes overboard on purpose. Maybe just to get back at Murdock, who also goes overboard with B.A.

They had a fierce loyalty towards each other, but BA didn't 'get' Murdock. BA was more conservative, which is ironic because he had those crazy outfits and the gold and the mohawk... But he saw things as black and white. This is how you behave, and this is how you don't behave. And of course our Murdock was all sorts of grey... And many other colours as well.


** Note, that I don't mean conservative politically... lol I have no idea his political persuasion. I just mean that BA had really strong beliefs and values.

LOL I rather like that bit, only because Murdock doesn't seem so offended. I rather hate when Murdock will open his mouth to speak and BA shouts at him to shut up before he even says anything like in "A small and deadly war"

I think in the early episodes though they were trying to imply there was genuine hatred between BA and Murdock.
