efiste2, on the subject of the Dukes, is it true that they eventually switched to using scale model cars intead of real '69 chargers for the crashes and jump scenes?
I heard that somewhere

Im afraid that is very true, season seven featured the use of minatures for the jumps and some drivepast scenes where a train or believe it or not a tank would be featured.....As with fall guy and Knight rider the minatures were terrible and the whole cast and crew hated them, Paul Baxley left the show becasue of it.......Tom Wopat was directing an episode and insisted that they were not to be used.....It was simply a production cost measure and obviousley was a factor in the cancellation of the eighth series.....My personal belief is that Season 7 should have been cancelled as it involved some stupid story lines and the models........its a part of the show that i really dont like.....Jumping a train or truck with a real car was almost believable but a huge house was totally ridiculous!!!! I think thats what makes the A TEAM so good, on the whole the production standards never slipped into silly things like the use of minatures

II cant actually think of anything that spoiled the A Team in terms of budget and cost cutting measures.......I have to say season five isnt my favourite by a long way, but seasons one to four in my opinion are just constantly great action TV!!!! I guess if it had have contiuned we may have seen some measures, but i think they quit while they were ahead.....

I think season 5 is so lacking in terms of the car chases and the hand-to-hand fistfights which to me were such a trademark of the show.

i think they quit while they were ahead..... Again - I like the way you said that, efiste2. That's nice to think about rather than thinking 5 was the end of them because it was so bad...

for season five obviousley SJC tried to change things to freshen up the show and all credit for doing so. staying the same goes stale, so i actually liked some of season five, FAMILY REUNION is really great and the whole trail episodes are too but i have to admit im not a fan of the others, oh The say uncle affair is good too!!! BUt if he hadnt have changed things i believe the show would have got stale, just like dukes got stale, apparentley the Dukes cast pleaded with the writers to give them better scripts but they refused.............As i have said A TEAM finished just right and went out whislt people still loved the show.....wheareas others show outlived themselves.....

I do wish it wasn't such a radical depature from the formula we all loved though. I would have loved another year of Season 2 or 3 -type storylines before the went the way of the guest stars and then the way of Season 5...

But is that really true? Hadn't the ratings plummeted way low?

Yes. The ratings were falling drastically by the end of the 4th season and they needed to do something to prove it could still go.

Heres a pic of the stunt Crew at a Dukes festival......on the Left is CRaig R Baxley, its him we have to thank for such amazing Stunts on The A Team, Next to Craig his Gary Baxley long time stuntman on the Dukes but did appearances on the A TEAM, next to him is Russel Solberg, He double Bo Duke for a good while, he then went on to be Fred Dyer's stunt double in HUNTER, he also did a lot of work on FALL GUY, Russel also still works on todays big hollywood productions...........Next to Russel is CRAIG BAXLEY Jnr who I know next to nothing about apart from he is following in his Fathers footsteps, and on the RIGHT is Tom Sarmento, he built and kept the fleet of General Lee's running for the bulk of the shows seven seasons, he also went on to work on Fall Guy and I beleive The A Team..............and many other vehicles on TV and Film!!!!
