If nothing else the show was consistent with its inconsistencies

Watched it again for the first time in a very long time last night.
I thought TD did an excellent job acting the many aliases, though his reaction to Hannibal being on the jazz seemed generic - knowing DB's famous feigned indifference.

In the beginning when Amy is discussing the team with Horshack ( or Zach ) - he says the team is a myth/ rumor, that another reporter tried to cover the story but didn't get anywhere - at the end where Amy loses her integrity with me and blackmails the team, she said she is going to blow their cover..... What cover is she talking about - other then knowing Hannibal was Mr Lee, she has no idea that Hannibal is an actor or Ba works with youth. Is the cover that they really do exist? Wouldn't they want a little exposure or how else would people know to hire them? I mean Lynch already knew where to find Hannibal and Face Was it Murdocks cover she was going to blow?
Curious as to what the harm would have been if she wrote the story because she does writes about them later .....In "Holiday " the one reporter that is trailing Amy says something to the effect that if he had a hot story like the ATeam, he wouldn't let it go ( or something like that )

However, your point is well taken. In the end, the whole reason she got to hang with the team, which seemed to be so that she wouldn't write about them, was apparently a moot point. And she still got away without paying them the full price!

I've probably been pretty rough on TD, but if I'm honest, he did not do a bad job. It's just that I love DB so much as Face that I probably am so rough on him.

Cannell was just too busy with too many shows.

You wanna know what I want to talk about? Hannibal getting the coded message to the guys through the radio call in show.
What did you guys think? Was it stupid? Should they have continued it?
I didn't like it.
I mean, it made sense that he'd need to send messages to them somehow. But it wasn't feasible. It was too work intensive.

A lot of stuff was unnecessarily complicated to begin with. Think of the disguises Hannibal used to check out Amy. When really, Face checks out their fingerprints and stuff to make sure they're okay.

Although it was a funny scene for the show - it couldn't really work ....... Hannibal would have no guarantee of even getting put on the air and then how would the guys know when to listen. Would they have to listen to a radio talk show every day forever just in case ?

Other thing that stuck out to me was Murdocks initial reactions to Face :
When getting sprung in the beginning Murdock says " I can't believe the Surgeon General let me out " and FakeFace says " he didn't - I did".
Then when FakeFace is scamming the Gulf Stream- Murdock ,to me ,looks confused as to what is going on
It's been 10 years - surely this couldn't have been the first time Face busted him out or pulled a scam in front of him. I just thought Murdocks reactions were strange
Unless like discussed in another thread, the show was trying to show Murdock did have memory loss - could he just not be remembering the other times ( I, myself , don't believe he has memory loss)
Or maybe he was just confused because Face looked so different - Tim ( FakeFace) looks nothing like Dirk ( RealFace) - haha

Maybe it was like that because originally they were not intending that Murdock would have been with the team so much throughout the previous 10 years?

I would hate that. I honestly would hate they never intended Murdock to be such a large part of the team. I like believing that they were always this close and they were always planning on sticking together and staying together no matter what.

I think that the writing staff was trying murdock out and didn't like what they saw. So murdock may have been just a one time friend help like so many others during the series. If the public didn't like him so much that would have been the only ep with murdock in it. Can you imagine the loss!

Personally, I love this episode. It has the right introduction of the characters to the rest of the world and how they interact together. One of my favorite scenes is when Hannibal is lying to BA on the road to the airport. The planes flying overhead to contradict Hannibal was great humor.
The detriment is definitely Face. The more I watch the pilot and focus just on the Face lines, etc., the more it seems like the part was NOT written for Dirk Benedict. It's almost as if Stephen Cannell wrote a crappy version of Face and developed him the least so he could change it and get Dirk written the way he wanted it later.
