I watched this one tonight....it is truly one of the greatest episodes, in my opinion. A 10 on the Sidney scale from me. My husband wanted to know why I like it so much. I explained to him that it equally features all of the team members, and also explained to him about Basscatcher Bob giving his "life" for the team. I love it when Murdock is complaining about how if they knew BA was not going to go on the helicopter they could have taken Bob and burned BA instead! Hilarious! Plus, it has a great Blondie song in it. And Face in typical Face mode, always taken in by any pretty babe. And Hannibal gets to wear a couple of disguises. I also love it when BA about has a heart attack when he thinks that Hannibal is going to blow up the van!

The way he is egging on Face just cracks me up. "Ohhhh...you know Billy Bob?"

Yes, and I also love Face's snide remarks, like the comment he makes about seeing why the guy has his own business and such. The writing for this episode is so good. There's even a funny line given to a character who is on screen for about one whole minute....the guy who brings the helicopter. When Jenny asks Face if he'll be back and he says probably not, that guy (after the helicopter leaves) freaks out because they've got his helicopter!

Oh yeah....love it when he starts acting like Basscatcher Bob is real. Maybe Murdock really has rubbed off on him!

I get why Incident at Crystal Lake is viewed by many as one of the standout episodes. It made me wish that there were more non-traditional storylines in the series but on the other hand it helps this one stick out. The first thing I noticed about the episode is the isolated/minimalist direction due to the location. The pacing zooms by very quickly I mean real quick! I liked the ranger and the daughter they did a good job in the roles that were given to them. The bad guys aren't the typical greasy slime-ball types, I enjoyed their storyline and they have meatier roles than usual. Some the issues had with this don't seem to be there anymore because it was supposed to be comedic which is a key factor of what the show was going for. Another thing is this episode has very good replay-ability.

I will always stop and watch this one if I stumble across it. I can't wait until I get there with the boys.
This might be my all-time favorite.

While I enjoy the more formulaic episodes, I do like how this one breaks with the common formula of bad guys oppressing the good guys and how the team just stumbles into the mission. The bad guys do seem to be "meatier" (as cartoonlover mentioned) and less cartoon-ish than in some episodes, too.

Rewatched this one yesterday. It's a great episode! I love that it's one of those stories where the team just stumble into the situation, rather than being hired to do a specific job. It has all the elements that make a perfect episode - action, comedy, Hannibal in disguise, Murdock flying a helicopter etc. Like you've said before, they make excellent use of the Blondie song in this ep. It sets the scene perfectly for Face to get himself into trouble! You might have thought an expert scam artist like Face would never have fallen for such an obvious scam, but then when it's an attractive young woman he does seem to completely lose all focus and common sense. I love that Hannibal immediately knew she was a plant for Decker and that Face would fall for it - and I couldn't believe that Face didn't recognise it was Hannibal in disguise at the service station. (Of couse, Hannibal could have just turned round after he spotted the girl at the side of the road and intercepted Face before he even saw her, but then we wouldn't have had this fantastic episode! ) I'd never expected that BA would be a good cook, but why not? He must have learnt something from his mother. I wish we'd seen more of the team enjoying their downtime at the cabin before the situation escalated, though. A scene with the four of them sitting down to eat a home cooked meal together - and probably arguing just like any other family - might have been fun. I loved Face talking to Basscatcher Bob, he hadn't had the best of days so far and I guess he just needed someone to talk to who wasn't going to answer back! It was good to see Bob being used to fool Decker later in the ep - it's always fun when Murdock makes the most of his 'secret weapon' status.

I think this episode could have turned into a fun two-parter, with more lead-up to the actual "incident" that happens at Crystal Lake. I, too, would have liked to see more banter between the team, them just actually having a real vacation together for a while, etc. It would have also been fun to see how Hannibal was able to get to sort of take over the gas station for a while.

Why was Hannibal wearing a band-aid on his face in this episode?...

Welcome to the forum! I don't think anyone has ever discovered the reason for the band-aid. I wonder if GP had something biopsied or removed from his face, but I don't really know. If anyone ever learns the reason, inquiring minds want to know!

Oh yeah....love it when he starts acting like Basscatcher Bob is real. Maybe Murdock really has rubbed off on him! I loved this part. I wonder if Face is actually wackier/sillier than he lets on (I mean, isn't everybody, when they're just alone?) and they just showed this to us... I'd never expected that BA would be a good cook, but why not? He must have learnt something from his mother. I wish we'd seen more of the team enjoying their downtime at the cabin before the situation escalated, though. A scene with the four of them sitting down to eat a home cooked meal together - and probably arguing just like any other family - might have been fun. Yes. I have a couple story scenarios where they're at some house or cabin somewhere-- in one I think it's actually for a job, and in another IIRC they had a client who has a vacation home they let them use. They're listening to music in the van on the way (my OC puts on Bohemian Rhapsody-- yeah, of course it's an Easter egg; "I dunno, just seemed like a good song for a road trip"-- and B.A. complains about "white people music" and then puts in Run DMC {they totally strike me as someone he'd listen to}), and they take turns cooking dinner, and my OC makes cinnamon rolls but makes the guys help make them (they're not happy, especially Face, but she points out that once he knows how to make them, "imagine how impressed your dates will be"), and they argue about how strong the coffee should be and who gets to take a shower first after they get caught in a rain storm, and B.A. gets tasked with making the eggs because "he's the best at them"... Welcome to the forum! I don't think anyone has ever discovered the reason for the band-aid. I wonder if GP had something biopsied or removed from his face, but I don't really know. If anyone ever learns the reason, inquiring minds want to know! If there was a real-world reason, you'd think they'd find a way to put makeup over it or something, hence why it's weird... or if they found they couldn't hide it, you'd think they'd add a line in the script to explain it-- cut himself shaving, got hit hard by a bad guy in the last job and has stitches, etc.
