I just realized that I forgot to post anything about this episode the last time I watched it...and now I have to change the episode numbers for episodes after it! I watched this one some time ago. I give it an 8 on the Sidney scale ("excellent"). I really enjoy this one. Don't have lots to write about it right now because it is not fresh in my mind. But I like Hannibal trying to get this acting gig and I like how they get involved with Uncle Buckle-Up. I also like the relationship between Sid and his daughter and how it is not revealed that she is his daughter until pretty far into the episode. And even though you have to suspend belief, I do like how they make those weapons out of the stuff in the toy factory.

Up to this one on my rewatch. It's such a fun episode! I love how passionate Hannibal is about his acting roles and how much effort he puts into getting this part. I feel so sorry for him when he thinks it was his final chance and now his career is over. I do enjoy it when the team stumble into missions instead of being formally hired by someone and I loved how Sid was completely bewildered by them rescuing him. I'm not sure why Kelly hid the fact that she was Sid's daughter to start with, they didn't really explain that. I laughed at Face's attempt to woo her - I assume he was being deliberately cheesy for a joke, because it was far below his usual standard of charm! The scene where they're locked in with all the toys and turn them into weapons was great and very inventive - it made a nice change from being conveniently locked in a workshop with welding equipment! We also got another scene with Hannibal identifying heroin from the taste alone. I love how excited Hannibal was to get once chance to play the bear - he was quite out of breath after dancing around in that heavy costume though!

I didn't remember that Sid's daughter was named Kelly! That's kind of funny that they reused the name "Kelly." At least it wasn't "Jenny" which it seems like they used multiple times. I think she hid the fact that she was Sid's daughter because Sid was kind of trying to always portray himself as "Uncle Buckle-Up" - that was his whole image. Or maybe Kelly also didn't want to just use her connection to Sid as being the reason that she had the job with him. It isn't clear to me if others who work on the Uncle Buckle-Up show actually know that Kelly is Sid's daughter or not.

You've got me doubting that she was really called Kelly now! I kind of got the impression that no one else working on the show was aware she was his daughter - she made a point of calling him Sid and not Dad. Perhaps they were concerned there would be accusations of nepotism - although no one seemed too bothered that they'd employing Sid's alcoholic, ex-con brother-in-law.

I just really don't have a memory of her name in that episode. Weird how I've watched episodes of TAT over and over but still have so much I forget. I do remember her calling her dad "Sid" and not "dad." I was probably surprised the first time I saw the episode when it was revealed that she was his daughter.

I just double checked on IMDb - she was definitely Kelly. The writers really weren't very inventive with names!

I kind of wonder if they had people they knew (daughters maybe?) whose name was Jenny or Jennifer.....and maybe also Kelly. Or maybe they just didn't like thinking up names for characters and figured they may as well just re-use names. I hated thinking up names when I used to write fanfiction.

A lot of times they will use names from people behind the scenes, such as writers, producers, etc. You could always go through the beginning and end credits to see who they might have named characters after.

Yeah, I know they used names like that (only last names) in BLOOD, SWEAT, AND CHEERS for the drivers of the other cars. I don't recall any Jennys or Jennifers or Kellys that worked on the show.
