I just finished watching this one. I'm giving it a 6 on the Sidney scale tonight (meaning it is very good and entertaining). One significant deficiency is that I don't believe someone as dedicated to capturing the A-TEAM as General Fulbright would be so oblivious as to who Murdock is. But I can overlook that. One thing I laugh out loud about is how Murdock is calling Fulbright "Colonel Fulbright" multiple times and how Fulbright says "I'm a General, not a Colonel!" and then how Murdock laughs. I strongly believe that Dwight actually flubbed his line, perhaps thinking about Colonel Decker, and that Jack Ging improvised. It also seems that Dwight is trying to get Dirk to laugh or something at the post office, when he stares at him strangely. I also like the twist we have in this episode with Rudy - the "is he really one of the bad guys or isn't he" aspect. And I think that the lady who goes into the "Crossroads of Pain" bar is pretty cool and brave. I like how BA has somehow rigged the video machine to be a lie detector.

I rewatched this episode yesterday. It's perhaps not a classic, but it's a fun episode. I love the little old lady Babette and the way she stands up to both Hannibal and BA, refusing to drive too fast and accusing BA of being a thief! Hannibal is really sweet with her, though. Murdock really gets into his persona in this ep. It's slightly different to his usual characters because he believes he's channeling a real ancestor and that makes it interesting. He seems genuinely crushed at the end when he finds out it wasn't real, but I love that Rudy is able to convince him that his ancestor was real after all (even if BA isn't happy about it!) I assume he's imitating someone (real or fictional?) with the way he's speaking, but I'm afraid I don't know who he's supposed to be. It's fun to think there's a whole network of scam artists who all know about each other - maybe they have a monthly magazine, like the mercenaries magazine in WAITING FOR INSANE WAYNE! Poor Face is really worried that he's losing his touch. And I agree that Dwight/Murdock seemed to call Fulbright 'Colonel' instead of 'General' by mistake - I'm glad they used it as the final take though, because it is really funny. I also agree that it's silly he doesn't recognise Murdock. Usually Murdock goes to great lengths to hide, or at least disguise himself when the military show up, but he's only wearing a hat here.

I love your idea of the monthly scam artists magazine!
I also don't know whose voice Murdock is supposed to be imitating as Pathfinder. I wondered if it was something like Davey Crockett or Daniel Boone (as portrayed by an actor), but I'm not familiar enough with those shows to know. I also think those characters would have more of a southern accent, like Kentucky or Tennessee, since I think they were from that part of the country.
