So did he know it was not a nun because she was doing something on the ladder on a Sunday?

He knew it wasn't a nun because they don't work on Sunday.
Irrefutable '80s action show logic, really.

I never got into Magnum, although not sure why.....seems like something I probably would like. Maybe it just didn't come on at a convenient time for me or something back in the day.

I watched it occasionally. There wasn't the silly humour that the A Team had. And being so young in the 80s, that really was the draw. That and Mr T being Mr T. Magnum had some funny bits, bit it was definitely more adult humour.
I watch the new Magnum now. It's okay. I actually haven't watched the new season at all.

I enjoyed MAGNUM when older and SIMON AND SIMON. I think the latter was funnier because of the exchange between the brothers. I enjoyed a lot of shows from this era such as THE ROCKFORD FILES, BANACEK, FATHER DOWLING, etc. Just a fun time for detective and crime type shows.

I like MURDER, SHE WROTE and I liked FATHER DOWLING but have not seen that one probably since its original run.

They did remake Magnum. Higgins is now a girl. She's pretty cool, actually. Might be the best thing about the show. Magnum is handsome and charismatic, but he's not Tom Selleck. In my opinion there will only ever be one Magnum. They should have named this show something else.
It's like the new MacGuyver. It's very loosely based on the original.
If they ever did remake A Team, I bet it would be the same thing... Barely related to the original.

Personally I don't understand why they feel the need to reboot popular shows and mess with existing characters that people love. None of the remakes, or reboots seem to capture the essence of the originals. It's not that they're bad shows, they're just not the same so why have the same name and characters? A "reboot" suggests the original show/characters never existed. Why not just make a new show set in the same universe, borrowing heavily from the original, but with its own identity and a contemporary setting and tone - Star Trek: The Next Generation proves how successful this can be!

There was a point in the new MacGuyver where they were looking for his father. I was so hoping they were going to have Richard Dean Anderson, the original MacGuyver, play the dad and make it all related somehow, but they didn't. I was very disappointed. That would have been a great way to tie the two shows together.
I do very much like the new MacGuyver. It had some rough spots with the acting, but overall I do like the show. Once again, though, it's not the original MacGuyver. The original one was more of a starring vehicle for one actor. The new one is an ensemble - MacGuyver has friends that he can't do any case without. They're cool. I like the girls. (I still don't understand how Dozer became an agent or what he does.)

We talked about the new MacGyver in another topic, and I like this show very much, but for me it's not MacGyver (RDA rulez!!), it's an entirely differet show with cool characters and action and humour... The only thing that links the 2 shows together is the fact that this new guy would indeed be able to defuse a bomb with a bar of chocolate. I agree with Sidney, it would have been really cool to have RDA as the new guy's dad! And I agree too with the Bozer-is-now-an-agent part. He's talented, but it's a bit too much.
As for Magnum, a friend of mine had no idea that Tom Selleck ever existed!!! She is convinced the new guy is the ONLY Thomas Magnum!!! We argue all the time about this! ^^ Noone beats Tom Selleck!!

For any reboots, I suppose that people who don't know the original will then consider the reboot version as "original" and may really hate the actual original when or if they ever see it. Like for me, I have watched the whole first season of the new ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL, and there have been some good things in it, but I just can't feel like it is really ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL. For me, that is only the older BBC version. Even if I read the books, I probably picture the characters now as the actors who played them on the BBC version. And I don't think I could bear to watch ANNE WITH AN E because I so love the ANNE OF GREEN GABLES and ANNE OF AVONLEA films that were made with Megan Follows and Jonathan Crombie (and for other reasons as well, like it sounds as though they really changed a lot in the newer show, rather than it being just a remake of the older one). I have watched a clip or two on youtube, but those actors are not "my Anne and Gilbert"!
