Katia, I'm starting a thread in the general forum about Beatles. I LOVE them. I'd like to talk about them with you.
I don't remember a woman lawyer, but I'm terrible at recall from episodes. I count on amyk for that.
I thought the towtruck driver was cute, amyk. Maybe it would be easier to think of the girls that were definitely supermodel-esque or bombshells. The girl with the jealous boyfriend in JUDGEMENT DAY was a bombshell. The actress in MONSTER was a bombshell.

Amy and Sidney, good calls on women that did not meet that supermodel level of attractive. I had thought of the woman in TIMBER, but it has been a while since I have seen it, so I wasn't sure I was remembering correctly.
While the tow truck lady was not a supermodel, I definitely found her very cute, kind of on par with Lisa from WASTE 'EM.

Sometimes it's also hard to be truly objective regarding their appearance when they wear 80s hip fashions with 80s fashionista hair. Think about Amy Allen. She actually was a professional model, but most people agree that her haircut didn't really make her look that great for a while. Meanwhile, it was very much the rage because of Pat Benetar. Sometimes some of the women are unattractive because of the huge shoulder pads, unflattering colours-schemes, and dated hair/make-up. But only because I'm looking at them with contemporary eyes. It's like when Face wears some of his outfits... You cringe and think he looks terrible. But he was totally stylin' for the day. (Here's another lady that doesn't fit the supermodel mode with whom he was interested.)

I just thought of something else about that mirror 'pretty girl' thing. We didn't know Kelly... AT ALL. We had no backstory for her. We had nothing in depth about her. We weren't given any history or past or relationships or anything. So having that mirror scene where he tries to help her low self-confidence was like they were trying to create something out of nothing. If she wasn't just fishing for a compliment, we would have learned more about her. Why include it at all? Was it their attempt to provide us with a complex character and then they cut other things out? It's just so out-of-place.

The lawyer that Katia is referring to is probably the one with Isaac Hayes in the episode with Rick James, THE HEART OF ROCK AND ROLL.

Katia, I'm starting a thread in the general forum about Beatles. I LOVE them. I'd like to talk about them with you. Hooray! I don't remember a woman lawyer, but I'm terrible at recall from episodes. I count on amyk for that. I had to go back to my notes. S4E5... "The Heart of Rock 'N Roll." I can't remember exactly what she did in that episode, but I think I remember she was actually useful in finding info and such. Think about Amy Allen. She actually was a professional model, but most people agree that her haircut didn't really make her look that great for a while. Meanwhile, it was very much the rage because of Pat Benetar. IMO, Amy was very pretty (not a bombshell, but pretty)... but I really wasn't into that "Adventures in Babysitting" haircut. (At least, that's what I thought of immediately when I saw her with that haircut for the first time... more so than Pat Benatar. Amy didn't give off the "punk" vibe that Pat did.) (Here's another lady that doesn't fit the supermodel mode with whom he was interested.) Yes, she was another badass woman Face went for. I was always impressed with that, because often the women he was into were useless.
(I have a running list in my head of the awesome women in this show...)

Was it their attempt to provide us with a complex character and then they cut other things out? It's just so out-of-place. I still feel like a lot of that episode was a lot of Schultz-Fulton inside stuff, and I still feel like that's what that part may've been. They definitely wrote the interaction between them strangely... I mean, it was cute and relatable and all with the "feeling awkward around someone you have a crush on" thing, but also feels very middle-school rather than "two nearly-middle-aged adults." Especially since, like I said, that wasn't normally how Murdock was around women. Maybe they meant that to show that he really liked her? That's all I can guess. (I feel like we're getting into the territory where I should be in the actual thread about the episode, rather than here, if I'm going to talk about the episode in general, but the other thing I thought was weird was the part where he leaves and he goes back to the door and can't bring himself to knock, but he whispers, "I like you!" and then runs away. I mean, they've already kissed, so the place to be *that* shy is long past... Then again, I also found it weird when he has to leave where she's like, "I'm going to cry!" Why? You just met the guy, and even if the two of you hit it off, he's still a near-stranger to you, and not only are you already about to cry over him leaving, but you admit that to him?) The lawyer that Katia is referring to is probably the one with Isaac Hayes in the episode with Rick James, THE HEART OF ROCK AND ROLL. That's the one!

Good point on that Season 4 episode. I had forgotten about the lady for BEND IN THE RIVER. It does seem that someone like Tawnia would have been more Face's speed than this guerilla fighter. The styles point Sidney made is a good one too.

I loved Bobbie/Bobbi/however she spells it... I was also surprised Face went for her, but I bet that's one relationship that wouldn't last very long because I'm guessing she wouldn't take any BS from him, and either she'd get sick of him or he'd get tired of her always pushing back against him...

Or maybe that is just the type of relationship Face needs. He's always scamming so much that it seems to have become his life. Maybe with a girl like her, he'd have that safe space to just be himself and not Face.

Oh, I think it wouldn't hurt him any... but I think he wouldn't like it. Face doesn't like hassles. I could see B.A. and Murdock going for women who will stand up for themselves, stand on their own two feet, be their own people, etc. But I feel like Face and Hannibal both sort of would go more for arm-candy yes-women who don't want too much and let them run the show a bit. Then again, either might be surprised by finding they like the other type. Hannibal does seem to like some strong, independent women. Hannibal's a bit odd in that sense... he's always shown with the arm-candy type on his arm, but also shown to actually be interested in the ones with some substance. Face... I think he could respect, maybe even be impressed by, a woman like that, but might not want to be romantically involved with her.

I think we're overlooking the fact that Kelly saved Murdock when he was in the van. She's not unintelligent. She had enough wits about her to prevent the bad guys from finding Murdock and enough nous to pull the cap gun on Murdock. We also do see some veterinary work, she's tending to a cat whilst Murdock is waiting for the radio call.

You have a good point that Kelly could not actually be completely unintelligent or stupid if she not only made it into veterinary school but also graduated from veterinary school, plus she appears to have her own practice, which means she at least must have some bit of business savvy to have got that far.

Yeah, I did mention that that's why I assumed she was at least reasonably intelligent-- any kind of medical school is no joke, for both intelligence and stamina/ability to cope under stress/stick-to-it-iveness. It's a big commitment.
