I know that most of us on this site are likely purists. We prefer the original TV show and are not fans of the movie or any attempt to talk about a new team replacing our guys.
Unfortunately, we do not run Hollywood, so it's probably just a matter of time before it does get rebooted. Based on some of the recent reboots (or scheduled ones), I have a question:
Would you rather it be a complete reboot of the original or some form of sequel to the original? Why?

My ideal revisit to the series would be some form of sequel. I don't want replacements. I want Dirk and Dwight (and T!!!) involved. I want Melinda involved. Perhaps Melinda is the editor of her own paper, and a new young ingenue reporter wants to do a story on the infamous A-Team or something... And it turns out Amy married Face! Or something... And their son is in the military... And something happens and he and his team are wrongfully accused... And Face has to help them escape from military prison before they face the firing squad so BA and Murdock help him... And they're on the run with Face's son's squad, teaching them what they used to do and remembering how it was...

I thought about that too, but I think it would be somewhat unbelievable (even more so than the original series) with the actors in their 70s (maybe T in his late 60s) to go out and be on the run again.
I think a sequel would be good too, but with pop-in appearances by the old cast where it fits. I would hate for it to be gratuitous or forced.

I believe I've said this before, but if there is a reboot, I think it needs to function like STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION in terms of its relationship to the original series. So I think it needs to be a whole new cast, new situation, etc. But it could be possible for some cameo appearances of original cast members playing their original roles. Like maybe a military team gets into some kind of trouble and has to go on the run. Perhaps Face, Murdock, or BA somehow are able to offer some advice or even help them with some kind of cover or pop up from time to time. Maybe Face could even scam something for the new fugitives. Or maybe one of them gets sent to the VA psychiatric ward and interacts with Murdock there. Maybe one of the fugitives could be someone who, when he was a kid, was one of the attendees at the day care where BA worked. Maybe he made an ashtray there.

Definitely not a reboot, please! They've tried that with far too many shows and films and they're always terrible. The worst example has to be MacGyver - loved the original, no idea what they were thinking when they rebooted it. I'm with you, amyk, a ST:TNG style sequel to The A-Team would be the only thing I'd ever accept.

How about a prequel - the original team but earlier in their lives? It could either be during the Vietnam war itself as they met for the first time and started to operate as a unit in the military. Or it could be a period piece set in the early 1970s LA as their "soldiers of fortune" career began.

Pico Bob, if only you knew how obsessed I am with that whole concept. Only fan fiction I've ever written in my life is their origin story. I've been writing it for over twenty years now. I just sit down, reread it, and add to it whenever I have a little 'me time'.
I have the novel, but it's not really good and it doesn't really explain anything. There's maybe a page or two of good stuff.
The occasional story people have written online is nice. Sometimes I find them hard to read.
I hated the way the movie brought them together. I absolutely hated Hannibal coincidentally finding BA in the middle of a Mexican desert and he just happened to have the special forces tattoo. The movie was the worst possible origin story for them.

I don't want an origin story for the team because it would mean different actors playing the team....just my personal opinion and preference.

I don't know... If they got actors that could convincingly play younger versions of them, I'd be open to it.
I really want Clint Eastwood's son to play young Clint Eastwood at some point. Oh my gosh! Every time I see him I can't get over how much he looks like his dad!

Looks like Clint has a couple of sons? But I think you are likely referring to Scott Eastwood. Yes, he does look a lot like Clint.

I would take both, what they did after the series ended and what happend before it started. (and all the backround of everyone that was not shown in the original series.) A new A-Team that tells storys of the old A-Team and that continues their legacy.(HannibalĀ“s nephew for example) would be one way to do it in my opinion.

I admit I'm getting a little sick of the "we've decided to bring back a movie/TV series that's 20-30 years old and do so by making the original characters have kids." Yes, I know, people have kids*, but still, it's overdone by now...
*Though I really hate when they take a character who was unlikely to have kids, and make them have a kid...

I don't think I would really want a reboot with any kid or kids of the original team members, i.e. with anyone portraying that they are children of the characters. I don't even think I want a reunion episode unless it was the original actors just talking about the show, not trying to go back and portray the characters. I have not watched the recent MONK movie, although fans seemed to have loved it. I don't know if I can watch it because I wrote fanfiction that picked up immediately after the last original episode and I know enough about the newer MONK to know that it messes up my fanfiction "canon."
