I was reading one of my books today and came across this scene:
“What is the first name you remember? “Alvin.” “Alvin? You don’t look like an Alvin.” “I thought the same thing.” “Did you ever find out what name you were born with?” “Yes, Richard.” “You don’t look like a Richard, either.” “I know,” Face told her. “What do you think I look like?” Piper sat, swinging her legs from her chair. She thought hard about that question. Face shared an amused look with Murdock. “I don’t know,” she finally said. “What’s a boy Barbie Doll called?” “Ken.” “No, that doesn’t work either.” “You can officially see what my problem has been all these years!” Face said.
What does he look like? To be honest he doesn't look like a Dirk either. What name does fit him? Face fits him. I agree with that. But as for a real name? I can't think of any that he looks like.
I know, I know, stupid question. But it's true. He doesn't look like an Alvin. He doesn't look like a Richard.

I have to think that Templeton Peck does seem to fit him well. It has that kind of mystique and high society feel that he wants.

Craig.
I think he looks like a Craig. I do agree with Derek that Templeton Peck provides an air of sophistication, though.
But he definitely looks like a Craig to me. Craig Peck has a nice ring to it, actually.

I also think he looks like a Templeton Peck and that he was called that from a very early age. In my A-TEAM universe, that was the name he arrived at the orphanage with (on a name tag pinned onto him) and so that is what the people at the orphanage called him.
Definitely not an Alvin! (That was my dad's name!)

See, I disagree about the Templeton thing. I don't think he looks like a Templeton. Whenever anyone ever called him 'Temp', it just didn't work for me. Peck works though.
Even Bosco works for BA. He looks like he could be a Bosco. John is perfect for Hannibal. Maybe John would have worked for Face, too?

I don't think John fits Face either.

I think they could just call him "Tem" which to many of us would sound the same as "Tim."

Maybe Tem would work. I don't know. It's hard to be objective. It's the same when deciding what the H stands for with Murdock. What H name could he possibly look like? Howard? Henry? Heathcliffe? Herman? Hank? Hayden? Havey? Hugo?
It's so funny that Hannibal has such a common name: John, and the others have such unusual names: Bosco, Templeton, H-name...

It would not surprise me if HM are not the real initials of Murdock. I think it was a nickname in the military, like Hannibal. He is "Howling Mad" to them, but they sometimes shrink it to HM if not calling him Murdock. He could be Sam Murdock for all we know.

He doesn't look like a Sam either!!!!!
The actor totally looks like a Dwight though. I think that fit. Dirk does not look like a Dirk though. (I totally realize I'm not making sense at all.)

I understand what you are saying. I don't really think that way, but my wife does. She is always telling me someone doesn't look like their name. I agree he doesn't look like a Sam, but I am not sure H would be his first initial though.

What other names has Face used as covers? Maybe he *has* used it. Like maybe Murdock's real name is Corky Duke.

Face used so many names I can't remember them. Maybe he is really Lake Charles!

I think they could just call him "Tem" which to many of us would sound the same as "Tim." There was actually one episode where I thought that was what a woman called him... To me Templeton is an odd name I can't imagine anyone giving their child, but maybe I just read too much Charlotte's Web and the name is forever tainted for me, even if just an a subconscious level?
Maybe Tem would work. I don't know. It's hard to be objective. It's the same when deciding what the H stands for with Murdock. What H name could he possibly look like? Howard? Henry? Heathcliffe? Herman? Hank? Hayden? Havey? Hugo? It's so funny that Hannibal has such a common name: John, and the others have such unusual names: Bosco, Templeton, H-name... Honestly? I think his given name is H.M. This in part clinched by the fact that it's apparently on his I.D. in Without Reservations, which means it would have to be his legal name. I think he's like B.J. Hunnicutt in M*A*S*H-- his name is literally initials*. (In my headcanon, it's because he's named after his grandparents-- Hannah and Martin, and Henry and Mary.) "Howling Mad" maybe chosen precisely because it fits with "H.M.," maybe even from a joke of the other guys in his unit trying to guess what "H.M." stands for. (For all we know, "B.A." also comes from his name-- do we know what his middle initial is and if it might start with A? Or maybe it's just the "B" that was convenient. It still kills me that apparently even his mom calls him B.A...)
*Spoiler alert, but we find this out in an episode where Hawkeye's going nuts trying to figure out what it stands for, and B.J. keeps insisting it's just "B.J."-- Hawkeye even sends for a copy of B.J.'s birth certificate and then accuses B.J. of changing his records to keep messing with him! Finally B.J. tells him he's "named after my parents-- B. Hunnicutt and J. Hunnicutt."

To me, Templeton sounds like a "high society" kind of name....sort of like "Remington Steele." Would have been funny if Face used "Remington Steele" as one of his fake names....kind of an in-show promo for the other show.
Didn't we see something like "Bosco Albert Baracus" in the pilot episode on one of those files that Zack got for Amy?
