I hope I'm not rehashing something that has already been discussed-- I admit I've not gone back over all the forum pages of old threads. How long do you suppose jobs usually take? How long do they go in between? I guess I could figure it out by trying to keep track for each episode of how many times they change clothes?

It seems like most of the jobs take anywhere from a couple of days to as much as a week. It's a little hard to tell because they don't always change clothes, especially when in the jungle and whatnot. But some clearly take longer, like JUDGMENT DAY where some like CHILDREN OF JAMESTOWN seem to take a lot less.

With the exception of for scams, Murdock and BA hardly, if ever, change clothes in an episode. Face changes several times an episode sometimes. I was keeping track of it for a while. Face could have five or six costume changes and BA doesn't change once. I don't know if changing clothes can help us figure anything out.
Occasionally Hannibal changes clothes. Maybe he's the only one we can use as an indicator of a lapse of time.

The guys (aside from Face) tend to wear the same thing all the time.

I always get the feeling that the jobs are pretty quickly finished. They get in and they get out. If they stuck around too long, maybe that gives the MPs the chance to catch them. I guess one of the longest jobs may have been the one in JUDGMENT DAY since it seems that they took a long time from the start to finish of that one, with the trip to Italy, the return on the ship, etc.

Yeah, I've noticed they're busy keeping Murdock in his signature sort of look... as I've noted before, it makes him look like he has hygiene issues, though I'm sure they don't mean that (unless they mean it to be another "insane" thing but I don't think they do). Never noticed B.A before, though, but you're right! I always get the feeling that the jobs are pretty quickly finished. They get in and they get out. That's why I'm kind of unsure about it.

Remember the one where Hannibal faked being killed and then they had his funeral? That felt like it was the very next day - but wouldn't funerals be a few days later? Do you think they rushed a funeral and held it the next day? Or was there a time lapse?

That one to me felt like it happened over the course of a week or so because of the setting up the restaurant, the murder, the funeral, etc.

Since they didn't really have to have Hannibal's body embalmed or anything, they could have held the funeral even the same day. But maybe in order to make the bad guys think that he really died, they did delay it for a day or two.

For that matter-- how long do they go between jobs? Do you suppose a season is actually supposed to comprise a year, or do they play sort of fast and loose with time and just because the season happened in, say, 1985, maybe the actual time span could be longer?

I have always wondered that too. Some shows, like the time lapse between the first and second season of HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, were explained. But other shows, like this one, you get the idea that time is very fluid.

I'm trying to think if they ever say/do anything to "date" the episodes... like, mention the date, or refer to something that was in actual current events. I don't recall much. When I think about it, it seems they were careful not to have too much "real"-- right down to inventing foreign countries sometimes. Which kind of helps it feel more timeless, I suppose.

Aside from knowing it's at least ten years after Vietnam, I don't think we get any dates about the current situation. Not even during their trial.
