I just finished watching season 2 again, and as I've been watching, I've been ranking episodes as I'm inclined to do. Here are my latest rankings for season 2 episodes:
1. “WHEN YOU COMIN’ BACK, RANGE RIDER?” 2. STEEL 3. THE ONLY CHURCH IN TOWN 4. IN PLANE SIGHT 5. RECIPE FOR HEAVY BREAD 6. DEADLY MANEUVERS 7. CURTAIN CALL 8. CHOPPING SPREE 9. SAY IT WITH BULLETS 10. WATER, WATER EVERYWHERE 11. BAD TIME ON THE BORDER 12. THE TAXICAB WARS 13. THE WHITE BALLOT 14. HARDER THAN IT LOOKS 15. LABOR PAINS 16. THERE’S ALWAYS A CATCH 17. THE MALTESE COW 18. PURE-DEE POISON 19. DIAMONDS ‘N DUST 20. SEMI-FRIENDLY PERSUASION 21. IT'S A DESERT OUT THERE 22. THE BATTLE OF BEL AIR
So I'm curious to know what other fans think about this season. How would you rank the episodes from season 2?

Is there something in particular you really like about BAD TIME ON THE BORDER that makes you rank it the highest of the season 2 episodes?

I have to admit... I don't think I can rank the episodes. Partly because I think I'd have to watch them all several times to really know them well enough to be able to do that. I could point out which episodes over the show's run that I particular enjoyed, but to have to rank all of them?
I'd like to see why everyone chose the ones they did, too-- both high-ranked and low-ranked.

For me, RANGE RIDER really sort of "has it all" and the only negative thing I usually feel that I have to say about it is the way they put clips from previous episodes together in a way that is not representative of the actual way those scenes played out for the most part in those previous episodes.
And for me, THE BATTLE OF BEL AIR often seems somewhat boring in parts. I also really hate how Tawnia is just able to so easily get into the security system. If they had presented her as a computer genius later in the episode, then it would make more sense to me. That could have been her way to help the team. And I hate how she just so casually warns the sheik that he's about to be killed - and yet he apparently believes her. I also dislike the scene with Tawnia and Face and how she makes it seem as though Amy talked to her about the team. Those are just a couple of things I dislike about that episode, although it still has some really fun moments.

Except I would move up TAXICAB and move down IN PLANE SIGHT. The bottom ones might move around a bit, but the top ones are pretty close I believe.

I feel like I'm sort of out of the ordinary for the fandom with THE TAXICAB WARS. I do like the episode, but I just don't love it as much as it seems a lot of others do. Sockie is cute, and I think a lot of people may have fond memories of really loving Sockie when they were kids, but I was already in high school when the episode first aired. And I do like Captain Cab (especially the way Murdock is in that phone booth and then how he reacts to the police officer driving by him when he is dressed up as Captain Cab). So there is nothing I really dislike about the episode, but for some reason it doesn't rank up there for me as high as a lot of other season 2 episodes.

I also really hate how Tawnia is just able to so easily get into the security system. If they had presented her as a computer genius later in the episode, then it would make more sense to me. I mean, to be fair, those were the days when a legitimate password was something like "reindeer flotilla," lol (yes, you know I'm a Tron geek). These days we'd be flabbergasted by how easy it probably was; in those days she could probably waltz right in (the fact that they were different times is exhibited by the fact that it doesn't occur to her to be concerned that she's doing it using her actual own user ID...). But yes-- I found it interesting that this was the way they introduced Tawnia. I guess it was supposed to show she really had guts (but that might make more sense if she was always sort of "tough" later-- but while she did have huevos to get herself into situations and snags, I never got the "hacker" vibe from her). (One of the ways my OC convinces them she can be useful to them is that she knows a bit about computers and can help them with research... that's a tough row to hoe, finding something that will make someone helpful for the team but is still plausible. The "reporter" angle is overdone now, though it's a good one to explain why a person can get away from work to go on jobs and I've yet to find an explanation as good without having someone being unemployed for some reason {rich, starving artist, something like that}.)
And I hate how she just so casually warns the sheik that he's about to be killed - and yet he apparently believes her. That bothered me so much. From my notes: “There are people coming to kill you although I have no proof; come with me, a totally-unknown person with no proof of credibility and get in a dodgy-looking van with a bunch of other totally-unknown people with automatic weapons!” “Okay! Sounds like a good and wise idea!” (No "eye roll" smiley? How am I to live??) I mean, if you were going to kidnap someone, isn't that exactly the way you'd do it? I also dislike the scene with Tawnia and Face and how she makes it seem as though Amy talked to her about the team. Also from my notes: "exactly why did Amy tell her all about them??" I would think Amy would be more protective of them than to tell anyone about them. Unless she specifically said something to Tawnia like "help these guys out" or something? (But if that were the case, wouldn't Tawnia say so?) I guess maybe she felt like she could really trust Tawnia to keep the secret? I mean, I could see Tawnia knowing that Amy knows them-- after all, Amy has written stories about them. But Tawnia knew way more detail than she'd get just from stories in the paper-- she knows what they're like as people so much so that she can tell who is who at a glance-- so clearly Amy has told her a lot about them.

I don't know why the writers put this into the episode. It would have been more plausible to me that Tawnia "discovered" the team because she was suspicious of how Amy got all those stories. Maybe she could have hacked into Amy's computer files and discovered information about the team that way, like how to contact them or something.

Yes. I could see that being the case-- maybe Tawnia is somewhat jealous of Amy because she gets all the exclusives or something, so she wants to find out now how she can do it, too (somehow, I could almost see that of her; the impression I get from her is that she, too, always wants to be part of the A-Team Cool Kids Club). I still don't see Tawnia as being the big hacker type, but she might not need to-- maybe a piece of paper Amy has accidentally left behind or something. And, she doesn't have to know all about the team and their personalities-- she's attracted to all the action (bet she'd get along great with Jody Joy, lol), and so she could just look them up based on that.

It seems like Tawnia really wanted to belong to something, and of course, in this case, she wanted to belong to the team. Once Brian Lefcourt took an interest in her, it seems that she sort of dropped off the radar with the team and didn't really care that much one way or the other about being a part of the team.....didn't it seem like they didn't even know she was dating Brian when she was already pretty seriously involved with him? I guess once she felt like she "belonged" to Brian (and hopefully vice versa), she didn't care so much about "belonging" with the team.

Oh yeah, the thing with Brian came right out of left field, even for the team (it seems to me it was a last-minute "let's get rid of the chick" thing so they had to come up with a reason it was never mentioned before).
I suppose you could say her priorities changed-- she had something new in her life that she was more interested in than the team. Or, it could be that it's not quite so appropriate anymore for her to be running around with a bunch of guys once she's married (actually, I'm wondering if there would have been any side-eye to a single woman running around with a bunch of single guys anyway, especially back then when society tended to be a bit more conservative. I'm sure there might be some people who would cast aspersions on her/Amy's motive). As I've said before, it's also possible she now plans to settle down and start a family and all that, or as we've talked about before, maybe she and Brian will be off to their own adventures...

I don't think my husband would be thrilled if I went running off to all kinds of locations with four single men. And I would certainly also feel strange about it.

I wouldn't necessarily feel strange about it myself, since I'd know it was all platonic, but I can see how it would look to other people-- but then, it would look that way to them if I were single, too, except then they'd probably make additional assumptions.

You have a point there....well, I admit that I would not be too thrilled if my husband went off all over the place with a group of four single women. I trust him but I still would feel weird about it.
