It's nice to be back here, it's been a while. I decided to watch the movie last week, I didnt bother when it first came out as I had seen what Hollywood had done in previous attempts at remakes of tv series. Anyway got myself a couple of beers and sat down and watched it, and I have to say I was surprised and did enjoy it. There are differences and there is always going to be, this was just a film of a very popular TV series. Nobody can take the place of the originals, but I think this was a good attempt at it and because Cannell was involved in it is the reason why. It was good to see how the team got together, the plotline was easy to follow and you could at times second guess what was going to happen next. I was a little disapointed that the cameo of Dwight and Dirk was tagged on the end of the credits, think they deserved more than that. I'm glad you liked it despite your initial misgivings. If you rent/buy the Extended Edition, they cut the cameos of Dirk and Dwight INTO the movie. There's also probably another half hour worth of movie and it's some really good stuff.

You're welcome. And the blu-ray has bloopers that are hilarious. Truly.

I also understand that the movie set up why they were fugitives, and left it open for other adventures in sequels. But a whole movie that ignored the whole premise of the tv show - that they were helping Average People, and soldiers of fortune who sometimes never made a dime... well, that to me made it less of the A-Team Well considering this was the first film, any planned sequels most likely would have been going with that plot line of helping people. The movie was after all an origin story, and the main premise of the show was that they were 4 guys who were basically able to take on any job, and that's what the film showed. I half-expected the film to be like an episode of the show, because that's what the trailers lead to beleive (going with a monlouge similar to the show, they're surviving as soldiers for hire even though that's not what's happening in the film). My only real cripes about the film were; 1) A-Team Theme should have been heard in full in the beginning of the film. 2) Van should have been in the film more 3) The A-Team logo seen in the film uses a generic font instead of the Stencil font used in the show (yeah weird grip). I found this weird because all the merchandise, comics, toys, posters, used the old font, so the logo pretty much looked the same as it did in the show. Even my friend hates that they used that font, despite having a really classic logo on the merchandise. 4) Hannibal should have worn more disguises, elaborate ones that changed his look.

The movie wasn't all that good, they changed things for a more updated look, it's not a bad thing to do but they should of been more to the tv show, like the wars changed, the Van getting destoryed in the first 30 mins of the movie, hannibal not knowing B.A. until he trying to take his van from B.A.

It was an origin story though--sort of how all the characters met. They didn't know Murdock either...but it is a little different than the series. I don't think the series would have appealed to modern audiences today though. There's a certain amount of "cheese" accepted in the 80s that people don't like now.

now that you say it, it does make since, I'm just a little old fashioned when it comes to my beloved shows. I know what you mean though. It took me until the second viewing to really love it. I had to get over my pre-conceptions of what I wanted it to be. Try it again sometime, you might like it more.

i was watching the A-team movie and saw a few things wrong, first the Van, it's all black with the strip of red, I didn't see any gray in the upper part of the Van, and the cussing in the movie was really uncalled for, the tv show never had any cussing so it shouldn';t have been in the movie.
Faceman saying after he got into the Van and kissing the woman, I just threw up, now if the tv show Faceman threw up he wouldn't be saying so or kissing the woman.

The movie is definitely a more 'adult' version of the show. I didn't mind the swearing that much (but then I use it in my fanfic so... ;D). But they kept the action and the interaction between the characters very close to the show, so I was really happy about that.

I'm with genea. I liked it. It isn't meant to be the SAME thing as the tv show...just another take on it...and remember, soldiers swear... A LOT.

I liked it. It got me into the TV show. I think it was pretty faithful to the show too. There were a lot of callbacks and shout outs and Sharlto Copley was amazing as Murdock.
The swearing wasn't even that bad. I mean they covered most of it with explosions anyhow particularly with the Alpha Mike Foxtrot thing.
You wanna see a truly awful adaption of a Stephen J Cannell show wait until 21 Jump Street comes out next year. Good grief they've wrecked THAT.

I really don't remember any swearing? Like the s-word once? And you never do hear the end of the m.f-word. I think sometimes it takes a bit to get used to a remake though. They're always a little different.
