To be fair, though, it is possible it could be a good movie. Maybe it will get a new generation interested in the original. Who knows? I may agree that it can be a good movie. But it will never be a good movie about THE A-Team. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)

I agree that it will probably be a good movie, but I don't see it being good because it is based on the television show. If anything, that will dampen my enthusiasm and make me more critical. If they want to do a movie, it should be a continuation movie and not a remake. I will probbly go see it because I am curious about the vision of SJC, but not because I think it will be a great movie or because Dwight endorses it.

It's an interesting point about movies based on TV shows. Some of them (read: STARSKY AND HUTCH or DUKES OF HAZZARD) seem to want to completely modernize the show, ie, throw in some gratuitous sex and violence, and just basically keep the names of the characters and some basic plot points. I have a feeling that's what they're doing with TAT. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) I really wish they'd do more of what THE BRADY BUNCH movie did: a kind of loving tribute to the original, while keeping the campy spirit and several of the original cast members. For the first time in my life I feel myself not getting old, but *older*, since many of the kids I work with are completely unfamiliar with the great 80s stars and shows. To them, I might as well be talking about King Arthur or Robin Hood! ![:o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/shocked.png)

I'm trying to remember what movies I have seen based on TV shows. I have seen one of the X-Files movies, but that was still the same Mulder and Scully, so it wasn't too bad....and it was really more like just a 2-hour episode of the regular show.
The Star Trek movies I have seen, likewise, with the same casts as in the TV shows don't bother me.
I think I saw the Flintstones movie and was unimpressed.
I don't think I saw the Brady Bunch one.
Even reunion shows can be a letdown, even when they are with the original cast. Perhaps even if they were using DB, DS, and Mr. T, it would be a letdown. Some things just cannot be recaptured. I think 1980s action shows may be something that you cannot recapture in 2009/2010. It was a different time and a different world in some ways.

The IPhones, GPS and BlackBerries would really shatter the whole TAT mythos for me. ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png)

Now I wonder if they'll ever get a chance to build something-out-of-nothing-in-five-minutes-or-so in that movie. Perhaps not. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)

That is one aspect that I would like someone to report on for me. I mean, they surely are going to communicate with mobile phones, right? And they won't have the old giant van phone that is connected with the cord for Lou's Delivery, will they? I wonder if they will even have B.A. have to make all sorts of little bugs and stuff. I think some of my main concerns about the movie are: 1) This whole Jessica Biel plot, with her being a former girlfriend of Fake Face. I wonder what the movie will be rated, if they will have a big sex scene, etc. etc. 2) If they are going to focus a lot on the violence aspects and instead of it being campy violence if people are going to be dying left and right or what. 3) If it is going to be too much about modern special effects and such. (That is what kind of bores me about the Star Trek movies - they focus more on the effects than I feel that the TV shows do, and I find that stuff actually kind of boring, as I want to get more into the character development and plot.) 4) If Fake B.A. is going to be using real profanity instead of just saying things like "heck" and getting arrested for it. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) I kind of suspect it may not be a movie to take kids to and that makes me sad.

I heard an interview with SJC and he said it would be more realistic where people could die. I think that makes it sound like it will be more based on violence. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) I think about the only movie I liked was A VERY BRADY CHRISTMAS. It had ALL of the original characters in it and was still good. ;D

BTW Mosame, I thought The A-Team was still popular in Poland? Wasn't there a commercial out when you could get an A-Team DVD with the purchase of a magazine or something? Yep. Some people were clearly excited about it. And it was rather hard to buy these magazines for the first few weeks (but mainly because the newsagents ordered only three to four copies, clearly not expecting anyone would buy them). People were even chatting on the forums, asking each other where in the city the magazine is still available. ;D But that was pretty much it. Soon, anyone could buy them without any problem. And soon the show was forgotten again. What is more, we don't even have a proper A-Team forum in Poland and I don't know a single person here who is half as obsessed about this show as I used to be. Therefore, I wouldn't say it's popular. But I know for a fact, that many people still remember it. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Speaking of DS... I don't think we should change our tune because of him. It seems to me that the writers are aware of the fact that many of the people who loved the original A-Team may not be that excited about the new movie. But if the actor who played one of the main characters in the original series changes his not-so-supportive attitude toward the movie, and not only says that the actor who plays his part is better than he was, but even agrees to play a cameo role in it, many of the fans may feel inclined to see it. All it really means is that there's nothing in that movie other than DS to draw our attention. They just want to make more money on a popular title (and a popular actor). That's all. Why DS even agreed to do that remains unknown to me. But he's not my guru and I'm not going to start saying how happy I am about that movie just because he's in it. I'm not. I thought they caused enough damage to the show with season five. But it always can be worse. Sorry for the long and apparently angry post. Clearly too angry for a person who is no longer an A-Team fan. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) Well, you don't need to have an own forum for the show to be popular in the country. At least I don' think so, but I get what you're saying. Sounds like Poland appreciates A-Team much more than we do. BTW, you're not a fan anymore?? ![:o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/shocked.png) What did I miss? I just know you're really into Dr. Who at the moment, but that you're no longer a fan? I agree with you about the cameo stuff. Producers are very smart when it comes to that, and I hate it. It's just a lame attempt to please the original fans and make more money off of the film. They do it all the time, and people keep falling for it.

But being a great fan (like you are) and being a fan "completely obsessed with only one thing which doesn't leave any space for anything else" is something completely different. But maybe, it's not that bad since I'm still here and I haven't written a single word in any DW forum. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

But that doesn't mean that's the only way to go when it comes to being a fan. Once upon a time, instead of Murdock, I idolized Xena and Joxer. And before them, Blackadder. And so on and so forth. It's a natural progression. I still consider myself a fan of those shows, but TAT is my bread and butter right now. ;D And a diversity of different kinds of fans is a good thing, IMO. I'm glad we have some "casual" fans here as well as the hardcore nutballs like myself, HD and Amy. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

We'd miss you if you left, Mosame. ![:'(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cry.png) I'd miss you, too. ![:-*](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/kiss.png) That's why I can't leave. ;D See, I still love TAT. Always will. But I don't watch/discuss the episodes. I don't read any fanfics. I don't make any wallpapers, etc. I don't dream about it. I don't even think about it apart from the time I'm here... That's why I don't feel a fan. Does it make any sense? ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) Honestly, I'm not even sure I want to be a DW fan. Being a Doctor Who fan sucks sometimes. Being a Torchwood fan sucks even more most of the time now. Being a fan of the A-Team would definitely suck too (with all that excitement about the movie, which I'm sure will be terrible, but everyone, except me, is gonna love it!). So, just for my own mental health I think I'll just stop being a fan of anything. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) But you can all call me a "casual" fan, if you want, though. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)
