I also was not happy with some comments of the director I read on another forum, but I think they were translated from another language, so perhaps something was lost in translation. It basically seemed like a slam against anyone who would like the original series over the movie.
Has that director ever even watched the original show? Does anyone know?

I have to take back when I said I was not happy with some of those comments of the director.....I think I am secretly happy, because I actually do not want fans of the original series going to see the movie. I know everyone has the right to do so, and the right to their opinion, but sorry.....I just get so defensive about "my guys" - and yes, I think that it is okay with Murdock for me to call them "my guys"! ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) ;D

Mr. T's sentiments are pretty much mine exactly and pretty much the main reason I don't want to see the movie.....but you never know, both he and I could be wrong....and of course it is not true that nobody EVER got hurt in the original show - but he may be using some hyperbole there. ;D

Even though I don't think the movie will be that good in the A-TEAM standard, I am planning to go see it sometime next weekend when it comes out. As for the credits, I always sit through them too. I always have. People hate going to the movies with me. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)

I know exactly what you mean.....I don't force others to sit through the credits, but I really would prefer to stay to see them.....my mom will sit through them with me....I also figure I paid enough money to have the movie experience, I may as well enjoy it as long as I can until they are about ready to kick me out of the theater. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)

I think Mr. T is right when he says the movie will be too graphic. That seems to be a must these days, in films as well as in computer games. It's a trend I don't like and it's certainly not like 'our' A-Team. Oh, I don't doubt that it will be a perfect action film, according to today's standards and that it will most probably be good - but it won't be the A-Team. Period. The old spirit won't be there, it will only be another action flick. T is right about something else: people don't want that kind of entertainment anymore, they want brutal and bloody. What angers me most is that just like it happened to the fans of the old BSG, the fans of the new film will mock the fans of the old show. They will make us look like idiots. That hurts and it makes me so angry and there is nothing we can do about it. I'm dreading the day the film will be out, because it will be the day when 'our' guys will become nothing but old junk. ![:'(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cry.png) Huh, sorry if I'm sounding angry, I'm not in the best mood today and this topic won't improve it. I've said before that I don't like remakes, especially not of shows I love. So please, bear with me. Whoever wants to watch the new movie, feel free to do so - I won't.

I'm not so sure about fans of the movie mocking fans of the show, Mossy. But even if they do, I don't care about that for myself....I kind of like it that I enjoy things that many people now-a-days consider quaint or odd or whatever. I don't know how successful the movie will be.....I feel like it has a huge build-up, but that is only because I'm involved on all these A-Team forums....otherwise, I don't know if I would think it has been built up a lot. My understanding is that there are several other action movies also out or coming out right around the same time, so I'm not sure if THE A-TEAM will do all that well. I remember several years ago when I heard GREAT EXPECTATIONS was coming out as a new movie. I got excited at first (because that is one of my favorite Dickens books and actually probably one of my favorite books in general).....then I learned that they updated it and moved it into a different time period and I thought that was the dumbest thing I ever heard of! So I never saw it..... What does that have to do with THE A-TEAM movie? Not really sure, but this thread just made me think of it. Anyway, the movie is what it is (or will be). I think many people will see it, but I don't know that they will become totally obsessed with the characters like some of us on this forum are! ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) I can still enjoy "our" A-Team and my obsession. ;D I'm still opposed to the movie in general, but I guess I have just come to terms with it and won't let it get me down. I do think one reason it bothers me more than a remake of a book is that the characters were not just in the imagination of the writers.....rather, the characters became who the original actors made them. I think that the characters evolved over the course of the show, as the actors evolved. I also think that the movie will be hard-pressed to show the same kind of chemistry between the four leads, but some of the things I have read made it seem like there was good chemistry, so maybe they will succeed in that. However, my understanding is that these characters will not have known each other already at the start of the movie for years and years, so they may not need to have that same kind of chemistry. When I watch the show, after about the first few episodes (and of course getting rid of Fake Face and really making Murdock a part of the team), I feel like I can really believe that they have been through all of that stuff in 'Nam together and been on the run together for all those years. I think that is one thing that makes the show interesting.....the history of the characters being together and how the actors play that out makes me actually feel like they DID all know each other and hang out together for years and years. There aren't many shows that seem to make something like that real believable, in my opinion. Usually it seems like shows just start off with people somehow being put together into a situation, rather than just starting off in the middle of a situation, like TAT did. Okay, enough of Amy's essay on TAT. I'm in a very wordy mood tonight I guess!

Mossy (and anyone else...) Do you think that's why they've all but cut the Dirk and Dwight cameos, and not had a Mr. T cameo at all? Is it a deliberate attempt to paint the fans of TOS as hopelessly behind the times, a bunch of silly fuddy duddies? ![>:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/angry.png) Just because something is "popular" or "hot" or "trendy" doesn't make it right in my book. I have a bad feeling SC is going to be one of the few saving graces of the movie for me.

amyk: true, nobody knows how successful the film will be and there is maybe one difference between BSG and A-Team: I guess one film will not get as many fans as a show that runs for years. So maybe it won't get as nasty as it is in the BSG fandom. I can't even explain, why such things hurt me, but they do. Two fandoms in friendly co-existence shouldn't be any problem, but some people are incapable of fairness and politeness. And it drives me nuts, when they bad-mouth my heroes. Additionally I can see only one reason for remakes: money. I mean, why should anyone feel the urge to re-invent a universe that was already invented and filled nicely ages ago? It's nonsense, aside from the monetary factor. No, I don't think I'll come to terms with the film. I'm so sure it won't have the comic factor, this little something that made the situations so crazy and the guys so lovable. The chemistry between them was unique in my opinion. The film will be too serious, because it wants to be an up to date action film and that's not what the A-Team was about. Okay, enough of this, the film is probably not even worth the effort of talking about it ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) I will never stop loving 'my' Team @miz: have they really cut the cameos in the end? I've seen it mentioned somewhere, but thought I had it wrong! Gawd. Now I really think Dirk is right to regret having done it in the first place... ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) Oh, I don't think they do it on purpose and besides, the people involved in the new film are not the problem. The fans are, those who get personal and insulting, only because someone loves the old show. ...and now I'll be quiet again about this topic. I've more or less decided to ignore the film, so no more rants from me ![:-*](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/kiss.png)

Aww.....come on back and rant! It's therapeutic....and besides, I for one enjoy reading your rants! ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) ;D I think from what I have read on another forum, the cameos are maybe going to be in a group of outtakes at the end of the credits....but I don't know if that means they will just be in some kind of random order or what. Since most people do not stay for the credits, I don't know if most people will see them, but maybe people will stay if they know there is something after the credits. I admit that even I am curious about DS and DB's cameos, although I really do think it is likely to be only a few seconds....maybe DS will be breaking DB out of a pscyh ward this time? ;D The team in the movie may even have good chemistry with each other.....but as you write, Mossy, it won't be the same chemistry as "our boys." ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

Tania: It comes out tomorrow where you are? It doesn't come out here until Friday. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) I will go see it, but I know it's not the real A-Team. Amy: It reminds me of how excited I was to hear that Sherlock Holmes was being made into a movie...and then I saw a preview... ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) I never make anyone sit through the credits, but my wife does now for me. ;D
