I just watched the movie "Sully" today. Did that incident (known as the "Miracle on the Hudson") or the movie "Sully" remind anyone of BEAST?

I really enjoyed it. The film is based on a real incident that happened in January 2009 when Captain "Sully" Sullenberger lost both engines of his plane at an altitude of nearly 3,000 feet over New York with 155 passengers aboard.
The story made major headlines here in the United States. The film came out last year, starring Tom Hanks as Sully, and was directed by Clint Eastwood.

I agree with you all, this is a fantastic episode! A perfect 10.
So the thing I noticed was - at the end, when Face is working out the money, he makes them put aside a substantial amount for taxes. I wonder if he was thinking towards the future, anticipating they would get their pardon someday, and so is trying to play by the rules by paying taxes like a law-abiding citizen and doesn't want to give the government another excuse to lock them up?
(Kind of the same vibe in Lord of the Rings, when Sam is rationing their food on the way to Mount Doom, and Frodo's like, "I thought we had more food?" and Sam's like, "it's so we've got some left for the journey home." And the look Frodo gives him - it's a heartwarming gesture of hope, but Frodo doesn't believe they're going home, it's a one way trip. Same as the looks the A-Team give Face, but they don't say anything).
Oh yeah, and this line by Hannibal - "Face, if we crash - " and then he stops cause BA goes mental. Probably you guys have already talked about that line on this forum already, but I'm interested in what people think Hannibal was going to say. Was he gonna say something to each of the A-Team, starting with Face? Was he thinking he might die, and wanted to give last minute instructions to Face to take his place? Maybe even apologise??

Ooh just had an epiphany after writing that - maybe Hannibal was gonna quote another John Wayne line at Face, like he did before, just to make him loosen up a bit - cause from where Hannibal is sitting, Face is behind him, being pretty quiet. Hannibal knows Face is worrying, but it's not like he can look round at him or clap him on the shoulder, so he just wants to tease him and get him to lighten up and reassure him. Earlier he says, "Look" (being all serious) and then says a John Wayne-esque line - "we may be running out of road on this one" and takes great delight in Face's reaction. And it sounds like the same tone he uses for "Face, if we crash - " (being all serious) - and then I can imagine him saying another John Wayne type quote. Anyways, just a theory

I love your thoughts about why Face was putting aside money for taxes....I wonder if he really did keep some money somewhere for that so they could eventually pay. Or possibly he sends it in anonymously. There is a "Conscience Fund" that people send money to anonymously. As for the line "Face, if we crash..." I have a whole theory about it and this is the conclusion of my final fanfiction script (called "Father's Day" and available here on this forum if you want to read it). I'll post the final lines of that script here: Hannibal: Do you remember a few years ago when I had to land that Boeing airplane when Murdock couldn’t see? Face: How could I forget? I thought that was the end for all of us! Hannibal: Do you remember me saying something like “Face, if we crash…” ? Face: As I recall, I was too busy trying to get B.A. to stop choking you to worry much about what you were saying! (Both he and Hannibal chuckle.) Hannibal: I wanted you to know something then, in case we didn’t make it…but I didn’t get the chance to finish that sentence. If I had, what I would have said was, “I want you to know that I’m proud of you, son.” (Hannibal smiles at Face, who smiles back and hands Hannibal a cigar. Then he pulls one out for himself. They both light up and the episode comes to an end.)

Hey! So I just read your script over on the LA courier. Interesting idea about Hannibal and Face, and thus the whole "Face, if we crash" line! It sounds like writing that story was really helpful for you in processing your grief about your own dad.

I love this episode. One of the highlights of Season 1 to me.
While most hate her, I think Amy really showed her moxie in this episode. It had to be tough to pull a gun from a cop, even a rent-a-cop, and hold those guys hostages. I wonder what she would have done if they had started towards her...

Like Sidney, I have my own A-TEAM universe....and in mine, Hannibal truly is Face's biological dad.

In fact, I think when the show aired back in the '80s, one reason I may have even been attracted to it was because they had this character named "Amy"! I don't remember any other Amys on any TV show. And yes, she did a great job in this episode. I'm not sure if she really would have pulled the trigger, but glad she didn't have to make that choice.

I love this episode, one of my faves. Murdock at his best in this. Love the whole flying the plane blind with Hannibal's help. Funny when Murdock asks Hannibal about the button with the flashing lights & he replies'fasten seat belts' & Murdock laughs. I wonder if George Peppard said that off his own back & Dwight had to laugh. Bit of an improvisation. Coz the way Dwight laughs, as if he wasn't expecting it, but carries on anyway, it doesn't look scripted. Also like the way, when Murdock's blinded BA says, 'don't worry, I'll get you out of here'. It shows he really does see him as a friend. Even though later he says he wishes he didn't have to see him again. I think he just says it to get on Murdock's nerves like he does his! Top episode!

Oh, this episode is so great. I think if I ever get my new husband to watch an A-TEAM episode with me, this is likely the one I will choose. If he doesn't like it after this one, there's not much hope he ever will.

It made my mum but it broke my dad

I will have to watch for that Murdock/Hannibal interaction. It does sound unscripted the way you phrase it, but it makes me wonder too. Could Peppard have done that for fun? Or maybe it was written in, but acted so well we didn't notice? I'm intrigued now for this scene.

Ha ha yeah, it's more Murdock's reaction when Hannibal says'fasten seat belts', Murdock does a little laugh that sounds more like Dwight laughing at what he just said, rather than Murdock laughing. Obv ai could be wrong, but he did so much improvisation & his own stuff you just never know! That's what makes it so much fun though!
