That's part of the problem, doc. I don't want to like any other A-Team. So if I liked the movie, I would be mad at myself and feel like I betrayed my guys by liking another A-Team. If I hated the movie, I would be mad. (Well, okay, I'm already irritated they made it, so maybe it wouldn't be any worse.) All in all, seeing it is a lose-lose situation for me. Lose-lose? I like the movie, so did my friends who were all fans of the show. It's not betrayal just because you like a new version. By that logic, any A-Team fan who likes the new movie are betraying the original show. Or, Star Trek fans are betraying the show for liking the new movie. There's no betrayal eitherway. It's just a matter of wanting to see them comeback in another way or prefer to live in the past and avoid anything new. And as said, fans of the show liked it, so is it really that bad? If you don't like it, so what? It doesn't change the original show AT ALL. In fact, not liking a new version of something really doesn't change any perspective on how you may like the original. I hated the Dragon Ball Evolution film, but that didn't ruin anything for the me in the anime or managa. The original and new are always going to be separate franchises anyway.

I don't have a problem with all the fans who saw the movie and loved it. I just don't want to. I'm not saying the movie is bad. I cannot say that, as I have not seen it. I just don't understand why so many people seem insistent that I see it. I feel like I upset people when I write about how I feel about this, and I don't really want to do that. If I was being judgmental against you for seeing and/or liking the movie, please forgive me. It is not my place to judge you for seeing or not seeing a movie or for liking or not liking a movie! I have decided that I'm going to try to not write any more publicly on this forum about the topic, although I won't promise. ;D If someone really wants to discuss it with me in depth, feel free to PM me. And I hope there are no hard feelings!

Oh and Amy... if you choose a said movie to force us to watch... warning here... I love classic movies. I give credit to my old parents... I'm a sucker for old war movies... WWII ones especially. (Hence my BoB love)

Amy, I understand not wanting to see it. I haven't seen it, either, but that's because I haven't seen a movie in a theater in about 3 years. I might watch it on DVD, but with reservations.
For me, I have the same reaction to the rumored movie version of The Greatest American Hero. That, to me, is painful. I can't even imagine it. I even have a hard time watching webisodes by fans.
I am not sure if there is an inherent problem with remakes. The problem, for me, is with bad remakes, and so many of these shows are hard to redo well. And it's so hard to replicate 80s cheese! There's a feel to these shows that no one can really replicate.
I wonder where you sit regarding fanfiction? I don't mind it (if it's well done), but I know some people don't like the idea. For me, good fanfiction is a much better way to have the stories and characters live on. That way, you can picture the same actors, without deviation from the expected.

I love fanfic if it's well done. It is hard to capture 80's cheese. They didn't try to do that in the new movie, which i kinda missed. But I don't think it would go over well with today's audiences.

It won't. Just because they worked well then, doesn't mean it'll work well now. Don't get me wrong, I love the cheesiness of the show, but I doubt kids or teens today who've never seen or heard of the show will like the movie that much if it's done in that same fashion.
Heck, the movie did pretty well in capturing the spirit and some of the cheesiness from the show, and that's actually what most professional reviewers were complaining about. Over the top, unrealistic actions and scenarios.
As for fan fiction, I don't mind it, but I usually never read it lol.

This may sound arrogant, but I mainly really like my own fanfiction. I still make myself laugh when I re-read the episodes I have written, and I suspect that I am my biggest (and maybe only) fan of my writing! But that's okay....for me, the enjoyment is in the writing and if other people enjoy it, great. But if not, that's fine.
If others wrote fanfiction as a script, sticking to the general "feel" of the show, then I would probably enjoy it, too. But I don't really like novelized fanfiction that much.

I re-read my own stuff like 50 times in a row as well. But I LOVE it when i find that one brilliant piece of fanfic. It's like finding a diamond buried in a mound of dirt!!

I always re read my stuff even if I don't post them on my fanfiction.net account or my LJ account. I always am on the lookout for good fics. If I really like them I copy and paste them onto word documents and save them onto my personal compy so I can read them over and over again.

I don't go onto any fanfiction site to get any, so the only ones I am likely to read would be those posted on this forum.

*returns Celine's high fives* I'm glad I'm not alone on that front. I used to print them out but it got to be waste of paper. My only problem is that I don't hardly post my stories cause I'm scared of their opinions. I only have three A-Team fics and two I haven't typed yet. I mainly focus on my other fandoms since I don't think my A-Team fics are really any good.

I should point out that all "my" fanfics have actually been done in partnership with miz. What's funny is that I even criticize my own fanfics that are posted on this web site. When I re-read them, I realize something I should have changed or that could be better, etc. So I even point those things out. But once I have it posted, I won't change it (except maybe a typo), even on my own version on my computer. Just like the show has lots of mistakes or editing errors or whatever, it is kind of fun to have a few mistakes in the fanfic scripts! Makes them more like the TV show.

It's not the fact of typos but i don't think my A-Team fics are as good plotlines as my other fandom fics. I do however have a beta reader for my Band of Brothers fics but not my others. She helps with my typos and things of the like. I'm thinking about getting a beta for my A-Team fics but that's a still active internal debate.

One thing I have learned by writing A-Team scripts is how difficult it is, and it is amazing that they could pump out as many scripts in a season as they did. I know they had various writers, but still to get just that right blend of comedy and action, as well as the occasional more serious side, to the show is really not an easy thing. And I'm so bad at coming up with new characters that I usually just recycle previous ones. (Also because I like to tie up what I see as loose ends in the series....)
