Sidneys Rating Scale - 9
I'm just about to walk out the door so my comments will be brief for now - I enjoy this episode a lot. It's a good story with a twist when the mobster gets murdered and the team is to blame. Love them having to switch gears and think on their feet - what they do best. There is more that I like and I'll discuss later what I didn't like was Murdock's creepy fed agent persona - hated that. And ugh Hannibals black face makes me physically cringe whenever I see it
ok your turn - I know some of you picked this as your favorite episode - tell us why?

I liked this whole episode. I like creepy Murdock. I didn't like blackface Hannibal, but remembering the lack of racism in the team I can ignore it. The twist was really nice and Face telling Amy she was nice (not great but nice) was very funny. Aaaaw poor Amy. It was a bit harsh on Face's part though. I liked that Face showed BA the dice too. Really funny!

I only give this one a 5 on Sidney scale, but that is still "good," so not so terrible. I don't even have a whole lot to complain about regarding this one, but I just don't find it as good as many other episodes. I don't like the way that Hannibal, as Tony Vincent, talks about Elly, like how he wants to "try" her, even though I realize he's playing the role. But for this kind of show, and especially knowing that kids were likely watching back in the day, I wish they had downplayed the prostitution part a bit more. Likewise, I really don't like the threats that "Bongo" makes against Elly and how she is really frightened of him. I also don't like it that they wrote it in that Jack Martell was busted out by the bad guys, presumably for them to kill him, and I think that was unnecessary. I would rather that Jack rat out the bad guys. Although I think Murdock hitchhiking on the runway is funny, I am not so sure I like it that the team just seemed to leave him there by himself.
Amy seemed quite amused with Murdock's invisible dice. Face proves my theory that the team are all excellent shots, when he makes that shot through the window exactly where Hannibal wants him to.
And one part I do love is this exchange after the car flips and the entire top of the car seemed to be crushed in: "Hey Cliff, you okay?" "Yeah, I'm okay."

I do think Murdock is adorable tossing the invisible dice in the van and how I love that Face plays along - even after showing the dice to BA, he tosses them back to Murdock - Murdock is adorable playing Tony Vincent's assistant ( ?) at the hotel desk with the jacket, glasses and hat. Also I think the tag scene with him hitchhiking on the runway is funny.
I agree that I don't like how it is implied that Martell was sprung from police custody to be killed by the mob especially since Hannibal says they were the ones that sent the mob a note telling them everything Martell did - they basically signed his death warrant. I don't like that - that's usually not the team's style
I agree, Amyk, that I don't like how the team while at first seems concerned about Murdock is then like " well he'll find his way home somehow" Also I thought it interesting that the team went to Amy to see if Murdock contacted her. Why would Murdock contact Amy before anyone else on the team? Unless the writers were trying to imply that Amy and Murdock had a thing going? Maybe a storyline that never fully developed......

Well you have to remember that during the 80's the van's phone would not have had number recognition or voice mail haha. It's very feasible that they just missed any calls from Murdock and wondered if Amy did get a call instead. I also did not like the fact that they suddenly stopped caring about Murdock. I was shocked by the callousness Hannibal portrays about the would be murder of Jack Martell. I think this is to drive home, that the A-team are battle hardened soldiers and mercenaries. The girl being threatened by Bongo is ok. She probably knows the ropes, and would not be easily shocked. That's why Murdock went full on creep. I kind of like creepy Murdock, because you know he isn't really like that. Or do you believe he really is a creep, deep down inside? That's why you don't like the blood lady or bongo? The flipped car hahahaha that was hilarious

To me Murdock is a gentleman through and through , caring and decent. And that's why when he plays characters like Bongo, it bothers me because I know he is not like that. I guess even though he is just playing a character, I just can't accept it. It feels uncomfortable to me.

I actually liked Bongo as well. I have no idea why. Maybe it was the silk shirt.
ATE LAS VEGAS will always be one of my favourite eps, despite the fact that it does have some racist and misogynistic moments. Even BA intimidating the women at the beginning was unnecessary. What was he doing? They were two young college girls!
There was a lot that formed Murdock in this episode even though he was obviously written back in.
Murdock discussed the trying to do electo-shock therapy on him, he showed his 'brilliance' (although his math language wasn't really anything), he flew to save the day, and it was Hannibal that created Bongo, not Murdock. So it showed how he could improvise and go along with Hannibal's plans on the fly.
Murdock originally was playing a wise guy. He came in, a little Jersey-ish, as a wise-guy flunky. But as soon as Hannibal started to talk, he was able to morph into Bongo as per Hannibal's suggestion. He was just doing what Hannibal said.
I don't think Face could have played Bongo, ever. Murdock has that dark side. I don't think Face could have been evil to a girl - even act it. Murdock would never hurt a girl either, but that darkness we always see once in a while - he could borrow from it to appear evil. Face is just too cute, I think. And I think about when he hit the girl in RIVERTOWN. Remember how devastated he seemed? He couldn't threaten a girl, no way. He will lie and steal from them and cause trouble for them, but he would never even pretend to physically intimidate a girl.

I see where Murdock was just following Hannibal's lead and I did think it was funny how Hannibal told Murdock - I may need a lunatic so act normal and the look Mutdock gives him. So I get all that - I understand why he did it. It still makes me uncomfortable
The beginning with the girls - first off they are wandering around in a bad part of town in the middle of the night by themselves- their patents probably warned them over and over not to do stuff like that - and why would the team put them in that situation knowing that they were young girls. Then I never understood what BA was looking for in the bus - Hannibal picks them up, how would they ever have had a chance to put someone on the bus ? It just scares the girls. I know the team had to be cautious but still

The girls were probably never alone. I think they were watched by the team in the bad part of town too.

What was he doing? They were two young college girls! Yeah, I don't even really like that part very much. I hope that someone from the team was actually watching out for those girls, too, when they were wandering around out on "the strip" or whatever it is called. Maybe BA was secretly protecting them before they got on the bus?
