I love this episode. I don't care about the inconsistencies. I'm not sure the orphans have much of a chance of being adopted. For one thing, I'm not sure how popular adoption is within some other countries, i.e. if Ecuadorians would be looking to adopt kids from an orphanage. And I also don't know how popular international adoption was back in the 1980s, or at least adopting from Ecuador. Anyway, I think your wife may be correct and not sure these kids were really even up for adoption.
And I also love, love, love the ending scene with Face. One of my favorite Face moments.

It's the best episode up till Steel for me. One of the reasons I really liked this episode is because of the dialogue scenes. Some of my complaints come from the climax. I don't want to spoil it but it got repetitive imo. 8/10

Do you feel that the thing that keeps flipping them before they get over the wall gets repetitive?

Do you feel that the thing that keeps flipping them before they get over the wall gets repetitive? That's actually where I thought it was repetitive at first but then after looking over it again it's only a couple of times?

I kind of enjoy watching the way the stuntmen can twist and do things in the air - reminds me of Olympic high diving or something but in slow motion!

Rewatched this one today. I've seen it a few times, it's always a fantastic episode to watch. I really love it when we get to know something about one of the characters and their backstory, it gives them more depth and helps you understand more about them. The suggestion that Face's womanising ways are because he had his heart broken and has never got over Lesley is interesting. I'm not sure that's the only reason because even after this episode he doesn't stop enjoying the company of the ladies! I love Face telling Amy about Lesley, you could see how much he was still hurting, even after all these years. It's a lovely character moment for both of them, with Amy telling him she's sorry. It would have been lovely to see a follow up conversation after the events of the episode. I agree with previous comments in this thread about the way Lesley treated Face. Disappearing without any explanation seems cruel, even if she couldn't bear to say goodbye to him - if she loved him that much she'd have found a way instead of leaving him with no closure, possibly forever for all she knew at the time. There's a lot of fun in this episode too - everyone piling on top of BA when he's waking up and they need him to stay quiet, Murdock communicating in English with a Spanish accent (and it looks like GP is struggling to keep a straight face at the end of that scene!) and Amy keeping track of the finances. This is the second episode in a row where Face has scammed himself a luxurious place to live - BA refers to it as a mansion, in RECIPE FOR HEAVY BREAD he only had a penthouse apartment so he's upgraded! And gosh, Face looks so good in this episode! It must be the hat.

Lesley could at least have left a note for Face explaining her situation and even then she could have explained why she was doing this by a note or a letter instead of face-to-face.

Or she could have asked her friend to tell him. Even if she didn't want to tell him the truth for some reason, she could have made something up. That would have been less hurtful than leaving him wondering what he'd done wrong for the next fifteen years.
It might have been quite fun to see Amy confront Lesley about it in the episode, Face kind of forgave her too easily. I know he loved Lesley, but I don't think he really showed her how much she'd hurt him all those years ago.

That could have been an interesting scene, especially since we really don't see those two interact at all.

Watched this one again tonight.....does anyone here ever wonder why Leslie/Markie's left eye is red? Do you think she had some kind of infection but they figured it was okay as maybe it would look like she had been crying?
Anyway, I sure do love this one. One of my favorite parts of all is when the Revd. Mother asks Hannibal what he is going to do with all those guns: "Shoot at the bad guys, ma'am!" For some reason I just think that is so funny.
I also find it interesting that the friend who took the fraternity pin from Face did give it to Leslie, and Leslie kept it. But Face didn't know that, so when he got the fraternity pin from the priest, do you think he at first may have thought that the friend was sending it to him?

Good question. How did he know it was from Leslie...unless that's the only person he associated it with. Kind of like you don't expect the mailman to keep something if you return it...?

Well, she did send a letter. But I wonder if right at first, Face was confused about this.
Also, I wonder who picked up the bad guys after the team defeated them at the orphanage. Do you think that they had the Revd. Mother contact the Federales? But the Federales surely would have known that the nuns did not defeat the bad guys on their own. Maybe they didn't question who the team members were? I thought it was kind of funny that nobody seemed too surprised seeing these Americans hanging out in what apparently was a rather small village in Ecuador, like when the Federales posted that WANTED sign. I would think they would maybe at least have asked Hannibal, BA, and Amy why they were there in the village.

This is a great episode. I suppose if Face thought the pin had come from Lesley's friend he may have thought Lesley had been in contact with her to say she was in some kind of trouble. He did sort of jump to conclusions, though, maybe because he was so desperate for any kind of sign that Lesley wanted to get back in touch.

I would think they would maybe at least have asked Hannibal, BA, and Amy why they were there in the village. Well, the Federales knew they were in the area because they kept showing up randomly. So it might be that they heard the gunfire and showed up. Or the team could have called them from the boat. B.A. does drive back into the orphanage talking about the boat. Maybe he called the cops when he was booking the boat ride.
