Yeah, well the promotions come fairly quicly at first but then it seems like you stay at one rank for a very long time!
I also don't like to expend brain energy to figure out what to wear.

I really like this episode, I think Dwight does so well with Murdock in this, with the singing of the songs, bet they was his idea to sing those. I don't get singing California Girls in Miami either though! I'm British & I know Miami is in Florida! 😀 The way he was dressed made a change aswell, from his usual jacket, Beige trousers & cap , typical Murdock to wear that, although the shorts were a bit tight I thought! Dirk & Dwight looked like they was having a great time filming this one! I don't get the pigs feet bit at the end either!

I don't either. It just seems like a weird thing to throw in.

Maybe Dwight just thought of that on the spur of the moment. Wouldn't surprise me!

But they had to have props to bring in the pig's feet. I don't really think the actors had quite so much control over those kind of things. But maybe I'm wrong.

Yeah suppose somebody had to put the pigs feet there in the first place. They probably just had more control over what they said, didn't they say they improvised quite a bit sometimes? Coz scripts weren't finished or they wasn't very good. But like you said, the props had to be put there to begin with for him to pick them up.
Did Dwight & Dirk suddenly decide to sing that song together off the cuff rather than it being scripted I wonder?

I still think things were a lot more scripted and not as much improvised as you think. However, I do recall reading something about GP always changing the script. I think, though, it actually irritated the others. If someone is improvising a lot, then it would be a problem for the other actors probably, because their lines would possibly not make sense or maybe they wouldn't know if the improvisor was going to then go ahead with their real line or what.

Yeah , it would cause a bit of a problem. I heard Dwight say they sometimes had to improvise the last scene coz it wasn't always finished. Or sometimes because it was so rubbish. With the network not really caring about the show, but I assume they all knew about this, so would work it out together. In Lease With an Option to Die the very end with Murdock talking to BA about the note pad & calling him scooter looks a bit improvised, Dwight looks like he wants to laugh from the start coz he knows what he's gonna do! Or maybe it was planned and they just laughed. In the episode where Face takes Murdock off you can tell they're all really having a good laugh at that!

In the scene wherevHannibal's getting taped up, does Murdock trip over B.A's feet or does Mr T stick his foot out on purpose?! They have a bit of a look between them straight afterwards.

I've rewound that bit a few times to try & see, but you just can't tell. Murdock moves from behind Hannibal and looks over to the right (I always wonder who he's looking at coz everyone else is stood on the other side). At first I thought Face, but he's over the other side too. Something going on off camera by the look of it. Then he trips over B.A's foot and they give each other a look, as if to blame each other for it. I think Mr T stuck his foot out on purpose, to play a trick on him, esp with Dwight playing tricks on them all the time! Would love to see outcakes, but I suppose there aren't many though, seeing as they usually carried on, even with mistakes and turned it into part of the show.

Well that will give me something to watch for if I can actually remember it by the next time I watch this episode!

Ha ha, yeah have a look, see what you think. I just can't work out if it was Dwight being Dwight or if Mr T thought he'd just stick his foot out a bit for a laugh or just wrote in. If I met them at a con or something I think I would have to ask! Although they might not remember themselves!

And I'm up to S3 in my complete rewatch. I've seen this epa couple of times recent and I really like it. It won't be in my top ten, but it's a lot of fun. I don't really think it was a great opener for the new season, though. Much like DIAMONDS AND DUST for S2, there were much stronger eps they could have started with. It was fun to see Murdock in a different outfit for a change. I don't understand why he is singing California Girls and other Beach Boys songs in Florida, but I do like that he's singing (especially the scene with BA in the lifeguard tower!) so I'll forgive him. I also love the little duets - Murdock and Face and then Face and Hannibal. I love how they convince BA that he's driven across the country for 3 days and just forgotten about it! They would never get away with it nowadays, not with phones and computers. I wonder what happened to his toothache? He doesn't actually get any dental treatment, so he should have still been in pain. And I wonder if Face ever did give BA the dental nurse's number? It's good that one of the sisters voices her objections to all the girls in bikinis, but Hannibal has a point when he says it will make the place more popular - so he's acknowledging that it's sexist, but that it reflects the attitudes of society in general, not necessarily just Face's opinion (although we all know what Face thinks about the girls in bikinis! ) For a moment I was confused about Hannibal getting himself captured because I thought he had really dropped his guard and been distracted by a woman until I realised it was (of course) all part of his plan. And we actually see him getting hurt for a change - although I'm not sure what good those rather loose bandages would have been? I also laughed at the baddie woman (I've forgotten her name) and her bodyguard suggesting they try CPR on Face who was quite clearly fully conscious and even talking to them!
