Watched this one tonight - well, I admit I "sort of" watched it, because I was doing other stuff, like email while I was playing the DVD. I only give it a 4 on the Sidney scale. I don't even understand the "meet the client" scene....why do the young women say that their accent is from Fort Lauderdale when they run a hotel in Miami? And why does Murdock insist on singing CALIFORNIA GIRLS when they are in Miami? I don't understand his accent either. His camera gag thing is kind of funny, though.

I do like this episode, but I'll admit it's one of the worst ones. How on earth was Murdock convincing as a train with a little tape recorder and a bike?

I suppose if the guy was in enough of a panic, maybe they were able to convince him.

Murdock couldn't even handle the bike very well. The guy must have been in an *awful* panic.
Hannibal gets hurt in this one. You don't see Hannibal hurt often. He's usually indestructible. They don't like to show him ever affected. In fact, as he was having his ribs taped (I don't know if that was what was going on), he looked like he was still in charge and it wasn't bothering him at all.

I think it was actually part of his plan, so he took it like a soldier. Well, maybe he didn't necessarily plan to get beat up like that, but I guess he probably knew it was highly likely that he would be roughed up.

I do like this episode, but I'll admit it's one of the worst ones. How on earth was Murdock convincing as a train with a little tape recorder and a bike? This was the very first episode penned by Mark Jones, who used to write Saturday morning cartoons. The train gag seemed like something right out of Scooby Doo.

Yes! Maybe that explains it!

Just watched this episode this evening. I liked it! My husband wasn't too impressed with it though. A bit too much quirky, heartwarming fluff for his liking,
Impressions:
Face was on fire in this episode e.g coming up with the most economical mustard to hot dog ratio, proposing the sunshine suites idea, giving acting lessons in return for the girl putting up the posters. I felt a bit sorry for him that the older sister wasn't very impressed with him for most of the episode, although I agree with her, the bikinis and the wet t-shirt contest wasnt really doing him any favours. But nice that she had a change of heart about him at the end - he really was just trying to help.
Loved all the singing that went on, especially the duets.
Loved Murdock and Face pushing each other to get into the van.
Murdock was so funny serenading BA with California girls and the surfing USA song with the binoculars.
I have no idea what they made in that tool shed, but I liked that Face and Hannibal had to shuffle round together holding the gun thing.
Felt sorry for BA about the newspaper trick, although it was funny to see the team pull the gag off.
Nice to see BA and Face together at the dentist, Face telling BA to think relaxing thoughts e.g about bullets.
The guy on the train tracks seems really terrified, I wondered what the team would do if he had a heart attack from the shock of it.
Face seemed really overdressed for the beach, especially compared to what BA and Murdock and the rest of the beach-goers were wearing. Maybe because for Face, the suit is part of his costume, like his working clothes. I also have a theory that he likes wearing layers, to project the image of being bigger than he is / protection (just thinking about his childhood).
Not sure what was up with Murdock bringing pigs feet at the end, seemed a bit too random even for him.
Even though she was a baddie, loved that the femme fatale girl stroked Face's hair after she rescued him from "drowning". People who stroke Face's hair (e.g Amy, Frankie, or the old lady who held his face in her hands) really endear themselves to me. It's like they can recognise his vulnerability, as we talked about in the other thread.

this would be one of my least favorite season 3 episodes, the title firstly is a let down lol
I do think the fake train in the tunnel part, with Murdock on a bike was quite clever

this would be one of my least favorite season 3 episodes, the title firstly is a let down lol I agree Colonel Smith RE the title and the general theme, I was torn between disliking the blatant sexism going on (even that surf city song Face and Murdock sing, "two girls for every guy" - yuck, AND it stayed in my head the whole evening), but loving all the fluffy moments.... I am ashamed to say that the fluff won out.

Poor Murdock... I didn't notice. Maybe they don't really place a high priority on looking after one's appearance in the VA?

I don't think Murdock focuses too much on his appearance, although in one episode he seems concerned about it - the one where he and Face are trying to have the double date - I think it's THE TROUBLE WITH HARRY. (You may not have seen that one yet, Paper Crane Song, because it's season 4.)

Ah ok cool. Looking forward to season 4! Yeah Murdock's fashion sense - I guess he dresses to show his individuality and personality, rather than caring about his appearance, going by the fact he has a different 'statement' T-Shirt on each week!
Hannibal seems to wear the same thing every week, except when he's in costume. Maybe he's like Steve Jobs, who wore the same thing to work every day so he wouldn't have to expend brain energy working out what to wear.
