But do you mean that the character Face was wearing the mustache for something outside of this episode or that the actor Dirk was? The character Face. I can imagine him having another scheme he is working on that he has to drop last minute. But he might not have had time to shave. Or he thought that maybe he could get back to it. The fact that it's gone by the next episode makes me consider it the most. Like you, I find it hard to believe that he was working another show or movie at this point, so I think it's probably a plot point, but maybe one we didn't know about.

Like do you mean that there was something in the episode which was written out or edited out? Or that Dirk or writers or costumers or someone just wanted us to imagine that Face had something going on the side?

Maybe there was a line or two somewhere that talked about him working on a side scam and it got cut. Things like that are known to happen. He could have been on a different show or movie around the time. I haven't looked at his catalog of work to know for sure, but it could have been necessary for an episode while he finished shooting something else too. It would probably depend on his contract, etc.

Maybe they just did it to make crazed fans like us wonder about it!

Maybe they just did it to make crazed fans like us wonder about it! If they had THAT good of a crystal ball, they should have warned us about 2020.

I assume a line or two was cut because it seems odd to have Murdock mention it and not have Face say its part of a scam or something

Something was cut that addressed it, but it ended up not mattering because it wasn't around longer than the episode, so it was deemed to be fine to cut?

I rewatched this one today, even though I only watched it recently. The moustache - or rather the fact that it's barely acknowledged - is quite annoying. It does seem like there was a whole moustache related sub-plot that was cut out. On several occasions I noticed Face touching it, or stroking it, so we were definitely supposed to acknowledge its existence and that it was new. Aside from that, the plot was a little confusing at times - I wonder if any of the aforementioned suspected cuts included any other plot elements? I enjoyed Hannibal's rescue attempt (although, like you've said before in this thread) I'm not sure what his original plan was and it was nice to see him caring about the girl they were rescuing this time instead of knocking her unconscious to shut her up! And poor Face does have a habit of getting thrown out of windows, doesn't he!

I really hope he remembers why he grew the moustache, I'd love to know the story behind it - even if it's not a very interesting story, at least we'd finally know!

I plan on asking him a few questions.. About the moustache if it was his idea or not for the one episode? Also what happened to the main 1st unit van, was it scrapped or kept in Cannells estate? Did he keep his leather jacket from season 1..
And plenty more questions

Realized we were ahead of our viewing and popped this one in last night (we are still off somehow). The youngest watched with us and the middle son came in around halfway and seemed to be intrigued. Our oldest refused until the last couple of minutes and then got mad we weren't watching more since it was bedtime. The opening scene was a little confusing. The first time watching it, you wonder if Ginger was an accomplice or not. When she saw the guys leaving with Jenny, she seemed concerned, not part of it. So when she is clued in as a worker of Eddie Devane's, it seems weird. I liked the meeting with George Olsen and his backstory. It was fun to see them fingerprint him ("It won't hurt!") and say they will check him out. I do love the bikers thinking they had remembered someone sitting on the horse. Murdock's reporting is just bleh. Being part of the PU Press is fun though. I actually thought that this episode went pretty fast overall. Trying to find the girl and running against Largo, only to find out it was another mobster in the action. Then tricking Largo into going to Devane's was great. The phosphorus paint and the helicopter were great. (I was not a fan of this scam to get the helicopter, although Face complaining about what Murdock always does to his scams was great!). Much like another poster, what was Hannibal's plan AFTER finding out Jenny was there? Leo the Lizard was fun, but that plan seems thin without Hannibal being on the inside like he ended up. But it DID seem like Hannibal was surprised to be captured, although he had a gun, so it shows he had thought about it. Tracking Leo and getting inside was fun. The whole fight scene was stupid because they got the bad guys with their pants down and saved the girl. Then, suddenly those same guards are the "reinforcements" but now with machine guns. And how stupid they were, shooting at the van with Devane standing right there! Why not take him hostage too? How did the feds NOT know that the phone was bugged? Hannibal pretending to die was great too. As was his comment about how unoriginal it was. Murdock dressing up was bleh. The fight scene was okay, but just sort of par for the course. The tag scene was okay, but nothing spectacular. Overall, I still like the episode, but it's not one of my favorites.

It's also been a while since I saw this one, but I probably concur pretty much with all your opinions of this episode. Was the scam to get the helicopter the one where they supposedly needed it as evidence about some murderer?
