Canada isn't doing too well on the vaccination front. We've had a lot of delays and things aren't really happening.
In your community, are people getting vaccinated?

I live in a very rural and conservative part of my state. Most people refused to wear masks throughout and a lot are saying they will not get the shot.
I am way down the list on getting vaccinated because I'm not in any of the priority groups. Once the vaccines get rolled out, I will probably get one, but mine will probably happen this summer due to amounts and timing.

A friend of mine in MN is in her 40s and is eligible now. Where I live, 80+ people are just being able to make an appointment now. The schedule is 75+ beginning April 1. 70+ beginning May 1. 65+ beginning June 1. 60+ beginning July 1. If it stays like that, I should be vaccinated by Christmas.

President Biden has said that every adult American should be able to get their first dose by May. That is a lot sooner than initially planned under President Trump. Under his calendar, I might not have been vaccinated in 2021 at all I was so far down the list.
My state has just opened it up to anyone under 65 with pre-existing conditions. I was talking to the hospital CEO today and he said that even if your BMI was too high, that would qualify. My wife signed us up I think. (You have to be on the list in my county or you can't get one).

Do you get to choose which one?

I got both doses of the Moderna vaccination, one dose in January and the second in February. Because I work in a healthcare facility I was able to get in on that tier of workers even though I'm just an administrative assistant. My husband just got his second dose of the Pfizer vaccine on Thursday. He qualified because he is over 65. So I guess we're doing better here (in Illinois) than a lot of other places. I didn't get to choose, and I don't think my husband did, either. But not sure if that may change with the Johnson and Johnson single-dose vaccine. I don't know if my county has any of that kind yet or not. I kind of think they are not letting people choose because they just vaccinate you with whatever they have opened up and ready to go that day. It could slow things down if everyone is trying to decide which one they want, etc.

People are scared of the J&J one, isn't that true? And the one from Oxford. I'm not going to pretend that I know how to spell that one. I originally wanted the Oxford one, but I'll take anything offered to ensure my safety. I don't know what will happen to my kids if I end up in the hospital as a single mom. And I have four of the 'comorbidities' they warn about. I'm not very old though, so I'm not high on the priority list.

I have heard the Johnson & Johnson one is considered less effective when compared to the other two, but is still better than most vaccines right out of the gate. I hadn't heard of the Oxford one. We don't get to choose here. It's whatever the federal government sends. Apparently, my wife and I might qualify in the next round because we care for someone with a disability. I don't know if I believe that, but we will see. I think my wife did sign us up. Illinois, Amy? I didn't realize we were so close.

AstroZenicka? I told you I didn't want to try to spell it. It's the one out of Oxford. There has been quite a few patients that have had blood clot problems after taking it, but no direct correlation to it yet. I am following the research on it. Several European countries have decided it can't be used on anyone 65 and over.
I think it's not being offered in the States.

Makes me worry about scam vaccines for the aging populations.

If your wife is not a huge fan of the show, maybe she and my husband can find something to talk about why you and I just talk about A-TEAM!!!

I think the Oxford vaccine is Astro-Zeneca. I've seen some stuff about blood clots and that vaccine, too, on Al-Jazeera news. But I haven't looked into it very closely to see if that is widespread or what.

I saw a doctor interviewed and she said there was no proof there is a link between the vaccine and the blood clots.
