I have no idea. I know he's with the Conservative party. I don't know much else. Just that people are confused. Maybe he went crazy or something?

The news we're getting here sounds like most of the outbreak that the US is dealing with is all in the Southern States where vaccinations were really low. Are other states, with good vaccination rates, in such dire circumstances? Like Connecticut and Vermont? They have a high vaccine percentage. Are they experiencing a terrible increase in cases, too?

I have not heard a lot about them having a big increase in cases. But I don't really know for sure.

I'm really happy to hear vaccinations are increasing in the states. That's a good thing.

I have heard that all 50 states have upticks in the COVID surge. But some are worse than others due to the low vaccination rates.

I'm very curious about how the rest of the US is doing. On the news, we are only hearing about Florida and places where it's out of control. I'd like to hear some promising stories... Like from Vermont or somewhere with a good vaccination level.
Here in Ontario our numbers are rising but nowhere near as quickly as provinces that had gotten rid of masks earlier this year. We never got rid of our masks. Thank goodness.

Have you guys received your booster? I'm not old enough here. Only 70+ and medical professionals can get boosters here.

I am not sure if I am eligible yet, but I have not received one. My kids all have their first dose of the vaccine and go back in December for the second one. So far, so good.

I am scheduled for my booster on Wednesday. Yay! Being overweight is apparently an underlying medical condition. Finally something good about being overweight (in that you can get the booster)!

I will get my booster shot mid-december. Even though I am already eligible, here in France, we have to wait 6 months after the second shot. And then we have 5 weeks to have it done without losing our 'sanitary pass' (is it how it is called in English?). The 5 weeks are a condition so people are 'greatly encouraged' to get the booster shot. Many people here consider that 2 shots is enough, even though it's not. And if we don't 'force' them to get the booster shot, all that's been done this last year to get people vaccinated would be for nothing... So I will be getting mine, for sure, as will my Dad, and I hope my Mum will be less stuborn than last time and will get hers as well.

I do have mixed feelings about people being somewhat forced to get vaccinated.....I wish that they could develop a vaccine that is virtually 100% effective at preventing infection and that those then who want to be vaccinated could be vaccinated with that and be pretty much guaranteed that they won't be infected. Then those who don't want to get vaccinated could take their chances. Actually what I really want is that this whole virus is wiped off of the face of the earth and we never have to even have any concern about it ever again!

Yeah sorry, 'force' isn't the right word. I meant that we strongly encourage people to get their booster shot so they can go to restaurants, to the movies, a concert... whatever... The problem is that if too many people refuse to get their 3rd shot, we're back to square 1 and those who have done everything they could to get over this pandemic would have done it for nothing.

Again, I think a good thing would be to develop better vaccines that are nearly 100% effective at preventing infection. I don't know if anyone is even trying to develop improved vaccines. If there were a better, more effective vaccine which only required one dose (like I think smallpox vaccine was), then I think this could be stopped or at least radically reduced. I realize no vaccine is going to be 100% effective, but I do think that if we all had the option to receive a vaccine that was virtually guaranteed to prevent infection, then those of us who want that could get it and those who don't could do whatever they want to do to prevent infection or risk getting infected.
I also wish that people with opposing viewpoints about vaccines, treatments, etc. could really sit down and talk to one another as human beings and truly listen to each other without assuming that the "other" is evil or has an evil agenda.

Originally I was fine with people having opposing views about vaccines. But now, I'm over it. No patience at all anymore. I have seen too many people acting like idiots, like protesting outside a hospital and stopping an ambulance with a dying patient from getting into the hospital. Don't protest there! Protest at a government office! That made me so angry. But it wasn't just acts like that; the mean and hurtful comments are getting out of control.
I would totally accept someone saying they're afraid. That's reasonable to me. I wouldn't push anyone then. I'd just let them talk it over with their families and doctor.
But some of the stupid, far-fetched conspiracy theories about covid and the vaccines are driving me crazy. I don't even understand why people would believe some of them!

Yes, I get that.....like how on earth do people think that the COVID vaccines have some kind of tracking device? And really, "they" (whoever "they" are) don't need any vaccines to track us....I think they can do that sufficiently through our phones. I got my booster about 4 hours ago!
