Yeh that's right, that's directly from one of the Look In magazines. I have several different issues all with A Team content on the front cover and mostly inside features. Some nice bits of cool A Team related news in these magazines not to mention great promo and BTS images

I know Dwight passed out on set once after injuring himself at home when a shelf/amplifier fell on his head. I always wondered what was behind that. I once read something that said he once had to film after having been hit in the head by an amp, but not exactly what happened... I was imagining a band practice where someone heaved an amp or something and was wondering exactly what kind of shenanigans he got up to!

Amyk these are the words directly taken from the actual article 'George was injured in an A Team stunt a few years ago, when he fell off a lorry traveling at 20mph. He hit his back on a rock, bruised his spine and had to have 12 stitches. Filming had to be stopped for nearly 2 weeks, and afterwards the tv crew discouraged him from doing anything too dangerous' Hmm....that differs from that other little clipping, so I wonder if there were two accidents involving GP.

Its possible that there were two stiches incidents involving GP, but perhaps more likely that there was just one and it did delay filming. Thinking about it, if a man in his mid fifties needed stitches and bruised his spine, I reckon that he would need time to recover - even GP. DEADLY MANEUVERS makes sense to me as the ep. It looked dangerous to me for GP to be clambering over the back of a moving truck on a dirt road. It would also track that season 2 had only 22 eps (depsite the show being a ratings hit) and the last ep was a clip show, which i understand were used in shows when filming was behind schedule. As dangerous as his DEADLY MANEUVERS stunt was, i reckon the most dangerous was in RANGE RIDER GP ran across the top of the moving train.

Pico Bob yes I agree the Range Rider stunt on top of the train probably would be the most dangerous, if he had fell from there would've been more serious than a bruised spine and stitches..
I would imagine filming a physical series like the A Team would create a few problems with the actors wanting to do their own stunts to keep it real but obviously that would involve little injuries here and there.
I would how many times Dirk had to scale that fencing in Beverly hills assault before it was a decent shot to use because that looked an uncomfortable landing for him?

Also in another article i remember reading that George nearly died while eating because he accidentally swallowed a cocktail stick, ouch!! That incident may explain why GP did this public service piece. youtu.be/MxkxjofTVSk?si=k5RdNYM6PBAYm_Za

Dirks landing makes me wince every time i see it. Ive heard actors in action shows talk about the physical toll. Dirk alluded to it in the TV Guide article about BATTLE OF BEL AIR. He talked about separating some ribs in the first ep of the second season, and the rib then threw his back out.

I know that used to be the case back in the 40's or 50's where you did not need extensive addresses, but I was surprised that you would not need a better address in the 1980s. Anyway, it was also interesting that they never called this the Heimlich maneuver even though that appears to be what they were promoting. Neat that George did this PSA.

I also always think that Dirk did that backward somersault thing himself in JUDGMENT DAY - I think when they have arrived in Italy and fight the bad guys, although I can't remember exactly where in the 2-part episode it falls. And yes, the fence-climbing in BEVERLY HILLS ASSAULT looks like it hurt him.

RE: George I wonder if Look in didn't have all the info the first time they published it or if it was exaggerated when they came to re-tell it in 1986/7. I know Dwight passed out on set once after injuring himself at home when a shelf/amplifier fell on his head. I always wondered what was behind that. I once read something that said he once had to film after having been hit in the head by an amp, but not exactly what happened... I vaguely recall Dwight talking about it on one of the Q & As I think although I can't remember the specific one. If I remember it right, Dwight was doing something with a shelf. He's an audiophile and has lots of amps/speakers etc and one of these was on a shelf which fell on him and hit him in the head. Wendy screamed, Dwight said he couldn't see and then realised the impact of the shelf/amp had knocked his glasses off. He thought he was okay, went to set the next day and collapsed. I think he said his temperament changed slightly after this accident and that he angered more quickly than he had done in the past. Didn't specify when it happened but I did wonder if it was during filming for the fifth season because there's some episodes where he looks like his hand is covered in band aids as if he's been injured somehow.

Dunno about in the 80's but it's not been called the Heimlich maneuver since 2006 in the UK. Something to do with Dr. Heimlich refusing to put his name to the promotion of backslaps when someone is joking and/or as a first aid instructor told us his estate not allowing the name Heimlich to be used after his death so they call it abdominal thrusts now.

Ouch. Amps are heavy-- not sure I've ever known someone who kept one on a shelf. Maybe the very small type.
Not surprised, though. The effects of concussion are way more far-reaching that we used to realize. I've heard of people being fine then coming down with symptoms a year later, and of personality changes like you describe, or cognitive issues, etc.
The thing I'd read had some quote saying how he was a music lover and had had an incident with an amp, but I just assumed that, like I said, it was some sort of band practice or something, especially since he hasn't got a bad singing voice and seems to have some knowledge of how to use it.

First I've ever heard about Dwight being injured, wonder which season/episode they were filming then? Glad he was ok though because i would imagine if a amp fell on you from above you would know about it..those things can be quite heavy, tried lifting one myself a few years ago and could hardly shift it so Dwight is lucky it didn't do more damage
Amyk i haven't seen Judgement Day in a while and remember the scene you refer to with the backwards flip but doubt that would've been Dirk, doubtful that Cannell would risk one of the main stars of his hit show from getting hurt?

When you get up to it, watch closely. I think it is Dirk because usually the stuntmen are so obvious....or maybe they did some better editing because this was a two-parter. It's been quite a while since I've seen that episode as well, so I'll have to try to look for it next time I watch it. But yeah, seems a bit risky for one of the main stars to do some of those stunts.
As I recall, though, it is just kind of like somersaults (but backwards) that a child could perhaps do, so maybe it was not really that dangerous. Maybe Dirk was just flexible!
