I get naughty popups/redirects at this forum. I have scanned my computer and the problem isn't with my pc and other sites do not give me the same problem. I guess that an ad on the board has gotten hijacked and is illegally redirecting me. I read on proboards fora that it can happen and they try to remove such content. I don't know if I can report it or an administrator has to do this.
Anyone???

I use an ad blocker. I get no pop-up at all, naughty or not. ;-)

Does that help against redirects too?
I was extremely worried that I had somehow contracted a virus or something, but three different scanners tell me I have no spy/ad/malware on my machine. They are incredible annoying and very uhm.... in your face... cough... They usually pop up in the message or notification parts of this forum.

I don't really know what redirects are... All I know is that I don't get any advert pop-up or link on any website, whether it's here, or FB, or my email...

I don't get any pop ups. I do get banner ads at the top of the forum and they are *ALWAYS* related to searches I've done. Recently I was looking at Murdock-type shirts to buy at Amazon, and the ads at the top of the forum were funny math shirts for a while. I looked at the Rosegal clothing link (cool clothes from China for really cheap - but apparently very poorly made) and for a while the banner ad was always Rosegal.
Does someone else use your computer besides you? They might be looking at bad things.

The ads themselves display nothing weird. Just ads for amusement parks in our neighbourhood. These are redirects... I was snooping around on the web and I read that normal ads can get infected by malware from the outside. Dialer viruses can do these things, but my scans all come up clean. Clearing Chrome history also doesn't change things. It behaves almost like those incredibly annoying whatsapp adds on Android. FF.net sometimes has these problems too.
I'm going to look further into it. Chrome has become insanely slow to start up, so it might also be a chrome problem.

I've contacted my personal nerd. He suspects that the proboards server may be infected by something minor. This isn't really dangerous, but mostly annoying. I contacted PB too. So that they can scan their computers. Internet tells me that this problem comes in waves and on all kinds of fora. I will let you know what happens. Maybe the admin can remove this thread later. It doesn't look good on this here nice forum.

But you're the only one experiencing it... Wouldn't we all have the same problem? What's different between our computers and yours?

I don't know. My software may be have a weak spot. I contacted PB and they suspect a redirecting ad. These are put on the board by google, not PB.
I have saved the ad report page and can report it when it happens again. It didn't sound weird to them haha. My husband does online gaming sometimes and those ads can cause problems too. I forbade him from doing that again.
I use AVG, Ad-Aware and Malware-bytes and all three came up clean.

Well, I'll tell you if I ever see anything. I haven't yet.

I've never gotten anything that redirected me to anything inappropriate. I think you should check on what online games your husband's playing.

I don't really know what you mean. I don't get ads popping up, although I will see ads on the banners. I don't even have any antivirus because I have Linux as my operating system. Somehow I think it automatically keeps out viruses, or maybe it is so underused that nobody bothers to attack it with viruses or something. Have used it since 2012 and never had a problem with a virus. I think there are some freeware scans that I could possibly do on the computer if I wanted to, but I've never had a need for them.

I also never get pop ups but I have the banner ads. But nothing inappropriate - the latest one is a car ad and I imagine that's because we just got a new car and looked up stuff in the Internet

Right now there is something about an island resort, but I don't know why I am getting that one. Then there is one about internet service, and that one may be related to a search I was doing earlier.
Oh, those two ads were at the bottom of the screen, so I'm not sure if that is still the same as a banner ad or if that only includes ads at the top of the screen.
