Watching this one right now. My favorite part is probably Tawnia, especially when she's so excited to be on the mission and Hannibal says that it's like the all-star game - everyone gets to play! Oh, another favorite part is how Face purposely had the R and T expired so he could pull out the extension. Other than those things, though, I don't really like this episode too well. I never quite understand why the team is willing to face being captured for impersonating U.S. Marshalls to save Al from the Scorpions. I would think they could just tip off the real U.S. Marshals that such an attempt on Al's life was going to be made and let them deal with it. Their main goal here was just to stop the Scorpions from terrorizing innocent tourists like Max and Miriam, but then they got all involved with this whole Al thing. So I only give this one a 3 on the Sidney scale.

Yeah, Face is right. Having it expired makes the scam more natural and believable. I like that he did that too.
When Tawnia was excited to go, was it this one where Face and Murdock kind of make faces at her? Making fun of her, sort of? I just wonder if that was the actors coming through there... Annoyed with how poor of an actress she was. Or if they were actually Face and Murdock annoyed with Tawnia.

I don't remember if they were making faces at her, but I would not be surprised.

I remember Murdock, especially, rolling his eyes at her at one point.

The dune biggies might be some of the best stunts in the show, really.

I get bored with the dune buggies. I feel like they are taking up a lot of time with them.

Yeah, I'm not one to appreciate Dune Buggy stunts. I also thought car chases went on a little long in the whole series, and in DUKES OF HAZZARD. I never fully appreciated the shot from the tire of the side of the car during a chase.

Ugh! Me too! I liked the dynamics between the guys and the occasional guest star too. I watched for the characters, believe it or not! Not the shoot 'em up or car chase elements.

Same. In my head, there's this wonderful drama between the characters: good times, bad times, hard times, winfalls...

It's probably why I like fan fiction so much. They tend to do a lot of angsty stuff and the inner monologues! Oh, I love to know the team's deepest, darkest feelings.
The guns and stuff are secondary to the relationships.

I like action, too. And adventure. I don't think you can have the A-Team without the action and adventure, but I agree, the character play is the best part.

I think it is easier to have more diversity with the character dialog and interactions than with the chase scenes and the shoot-em-up scenes.

I watched this one again yesterday -
Agree with AmyK and Sidney about Face being clever and pulling out the expired license. That was cool! I think Face was really on fire in this episode - he scammed the bus, he scammed the girl, he dodged the drugged champagne and found out what the Scorpions plans were.
Also agree with Sockii - yeah I watch it for the character interactions too. That's the golden stuff. Yay for fanfic!
So other stuff that really stood out to me
- I'm a huge Stephen King fan so I wondered if the Scorpions leader 'Flagg' was meant to be a character from Stephen King's novels - Flagg's a bad guy who pops up in a lot of King's work (The Stand, The Dark Tower series etc.) - but especially in The Stand, he's a creepy leader of a cult who live out in the desert. So when I heard the name, that's who I thought of.
- I LOVED the bit where the team have just had their first encounter with the Scorpions, and Hannibal tells Face to go back to the pit boss girl and Face is protesting that she won't buy how he's gone all the way back just to chat her up, and Hannibal says something like: "Of course you can, you could go in there and convince her you can turn cabbages into carriages. You're magic, kid!", complete with reassuring shoulder squeeze. (Moments like these make me really love Hannibal. And I loved how BA agreed with him, and the way Face smiles despite himself).
That scene got me to thinking about how much Face doubts himself. I don't think it's humility either, I think he genuinely doesn't think he can do it, or pull things off, like a real lack of self-confidence. I think it's really endearing. But I also love how much Hannibal believes in Face. We all need a 'Hannibal' in our lives.

I'm not very familiar with Stephen King novels, but what you wrote about Flagg being a creepy leader of a cult in the desert does sound like it's very possible that the writers chose that name for the character because they knew about the Flagg character in the novels.

So just watched. Not what you would call a classic episode or something you would show to someone to explain the A-Team and what its about.
Face obviously does a lot of.scamming off screen, but the R and T thing is probably the best bit. It has a bit of Face doing something because he can.
Just a weird episode in terms of the flow and structure of it. On its own its not great, but as part of the series a slight change of style and ok to mix it up. Not a go to episode
